Discount on a 2009 SL550 ?
I am thinking about to trade in my 2008 S550 to a Brand new 2009 SL550, what are the discount on a SL550 these days ? I got 10% off on my New S550 about a year ago. Thank you !

Discounted SL550's
One method I used to get my 2009 MSRP 108,000 for 98,000 was to get a quote from www.fleetrates.com then use that as an incentive for my local dealer to sell me the exact same vehicle for the same price.

In the DFW area I got 5.6% off a 2009 S550 two months ago. My wife was offered a left over 2009 S550 last week to replace her 2007 at a maximum discount of 7%. We passed on that offer.

I just read an article in the paper that says the maximum reported, reported by the auto industry, discounts on cars are on several Ford and Kia models. These maximum discounts ranged from 17 to 24%.

I am new to this forum and am considering a new 2009 SL550 as well. Was wondering if there will be any better time than now to buy one since MB Financial is offering 1.9% financing for 66 months? Any thoughts on this? Any chance that better deals on 2009s may come along once the 2010 cars get into the showrooms? Thanks.

They are not making a 2010 or 2011 SL, they have stopped production. They are making a 2012 model which will be out in late 2011 and it will feature the gullwing doors like a lamborghini. Gonna be sick!!!

Thanks for your response. Very interesting. I would assume that this would put a damper on the leftover 2009's prices? I assume that most people would want the latest bodystyle.

Where in the world did you come up with this information? Do you really think MB would stop selling the SL for two years?

Lots of patience, discipline, and research will be your best allies in pursuing a great deal on an 09 SL. The 2010s are coming out next month, and once they start showing up in the dealers' showrooms, you will then have strong negotiating leverage. One downside is that you may have fewer choices to pick from a smaller inventory of "left over" 09s.
I bought my 06 SL in July amidst numerous new 07 SLs the dealer's lot, and it was the exact car I had been looking for. My offer was accepted for just over 16% off MSRP, and the deal was made over the phone. They wouldn't throw in any "freebies" like caps, key fobs, etc., but they did agree to give an employee discount on any parts and accessories for the first 90 days. This enabled me to have the MB 318 wood trim pkg installed for less than it would have cost as a factory option. Good hunting!

Thanks for your feedback. I was wondering if MB Financial offers similar low financing rates often. 1.9% is a very good rate now and even if I do not get as much off MSRP now, the interest savings may make up for it?

He just told me that they are not planning an 010 or 011 SL and instead focusing on a whole new model and redesign. The last of the 09's is all that you can get for now he said. I'm going to purchase my car and then buy the 012 SL later on.
