The insanity is taken up another notch..

SL3, parktronic, panorama roof
Ordered at end of November, built in January, arrived on 2/14/2003. Paid $4k over sticker. Damn LA market.
I can't get the smile off of my face. That car is everything I hoped for. Lots of cool gadgets and fit and finish is top notch. SBC takes a while to get used to, but grips well. Engine has a nice roar to it; I can only imagine what the SL55 sounds like!
My only problem is that the car is a pain in the *** to get in and out of. It's too easy to scuff the interior. Maybe moving the seating position will remedy it.
All in all, i've very pleased with my purchase (screw leasing!). I have lots planned for this car, so stay tuned!

Congratulations, Jim. Best of luck with the new wheels. Your initial comments are interesting. I wouldn't mind reading more of your thoughts on the car. I pick mine up in a week. I wish it was an SL55 (I'm on the waiting list), but hopefully I'll be happy with the performance (I sold my M5 for this car).
With the Spring season on its way, I can't wait to drop the top on the SL.
One question, I've heard there was an auxiliary audio jack in the glovebox (for things like mp3 players). Is that true?

yes there is an audio jack in the glove compartment
and nice car! love the color scheme. i had the hardest time deciding between black and silver for my sl500 but ended up going with silver. my sl55 (hopefully getting by this summer) will be black for sure though

Oh man, speechless, i used to be skeptical about red interior, but your car changed my mind, honestly. I've never seen such a beautful combo in a mercedes in a long time! I agree with Vishal, can i have your car?
