Do BBS LM rims fit

Hi,

Anybody know if the BBS LM rims -or any lookalike rims- fit the SL500? Any links to sellers would be appreciated. Also, if you're aware of any domestically available rims outside of the AMG, CArlsson, Lowenhart, HRE type.. please let me know. Thanks---- John

I dont think the BBS LM rims would suit the SL....

Check out Brabus if you are looking for the 'busy' design. A favorite of mine is the 'turbine' style wheels from Mercedes not sure if they are AMG specific though.

I *believe* that any rim that is 8.5" wide will fit.

No.... you can retrofit pretty much anything you want but I would not recommend it.

You can stick skinny 6" wheels on there if you want.

It's surprising,

But there aren't that many rims which fit this car unless you go to something like a known Mercedes brand such as AMG or custom wheel jobs like an HRE. You can always try to make wheels fit by using spacers etc. But that's a bad idea. --- John

Look, obviously you can put anything LESS than the MAXIMUM WIDTH. My post was concerning the MAXIMUM width allowed by the wheel housing. Why would anybody want 6" wheels so that they can hide under the car?????? But on the other hand, you can't put 10.5" wide wheels on the SL without some drastic axle modifications.

There are several wheels that fit this car. I checked the MB website and 8.5" and 9.5" will fit. There are hundreds of rims that are these sizes. What size are you looking for? Mercedes are known to be very receptive to aftermarket wheels.

I thought Brabus came out with a 19X10 incher for the SL?

I've looked around and outside of well known Mercedes wheel companies or custom wheel companies, very few wheels will fit the car. It's not a question of width or diameter or bolt patterns... I believe the most common problem making xyz wheel incompatible is due to wheel offset

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/offset.htm

An incorrect offset can cause a lot of problems, one being your spokes may rub into your brake calipers
