Single fin grill installed on silver SL (pics)
Pulled the trigger on the new single fin grill from the eBay seller of a prevoius thread. The grill arrived in 2 days!! Super fast shipping to So Cal. Packed very well - quality is better than I expected for $193 total. Install was about 5 minutes including mounting the star. Star emblem is about 1" larger diameter than stock. I think it gives the front a fresh look and blends in very well with the black mesh already there. This was the "Black" grill. I think there are 4 different choices. See what you think on Irid Silver...

Thanks for the comments. I debated weather to get the "sliver" grill then paint the mesh areas black. I think this would have given the fin more of a lifted look. Where the fin extends off the mesh, the spacing top to bottom is pretty uniform. The way the fin projects out at the center toward the star makes the fin look a little dropped, especially with the chrome at the outer edge. Would be interesting to see what the all silver grill would look like.

I just ordered one but am going to have the plastic "grill" material in the background removed and replaced with actual aluminum mesh to match my lower valance which has been replaced as such...

There are tabs on the back of the star that aligns with slots on the grill. Just press them in and they will "snap" in place. I did have to trim a little plastic flash from one slot - I didn't want to force it.

Please post some pictures when you get it installed. I like the idea of opening up the area behind the star - similar to the OEM design. I'm sure with the new design there is a small flow-thru air loss to the radiator. Probabaly not a big deal except to the far-south brothern in the summer time

Has anyone installed these with "distronic" cruise control? I know the ones with the solid background behind the star are supposed to work but not sure how it would install...
