bad idea to paint car?

I would really like to change the color of my 03 R230. If I did so, I would certainly find a reputable vendor, and wouldn't cut corners. That said, does anybody have any thoughts on drawbacks from completely re-painting an already beautiful car, in order to satisfy my desire for a different color?

FYI, I'd be going from pewter, to white. Interior is gray, so while I would love a red interior, I think the gray would still work.

Thanks all.

That's going to tank your resale value.

if you change the original color to something different, it reflects on the carfax and master vehicle history report, so, your resale is tanked. If you don't care about resale, then, sure you could do it, but I would recommend taking it only to a mercedes benz autobody shop so it's done right.

You realize that the inside of doors, engine bay, and trunk will have a different color unless you take the entire car apart which will be cost prohibitive, given the already low resale value of the car.
Consider selling your car and buying one with the colors (including interior color) you want. It is a matter of preference, but the red interior is very very red, where you have to look at it in person, of course alongside the exterior color, to see if you like it.

Did you consider doing a wrap on the car??? You can wrap your car any color you want and later take it off when you will be selling the car to bring it back to it's original color, I know this is a cheaper way of doing it, but that way you pay a lot less plus you cant even tell the difference.

Wrap? Where can I find more info about it, and who can do it for me? I think it'd be fun to re-color my cars once in a while...

Just google Texas car wrapping and a few shops should show up that do the job. There is a place near Chicago called Xtreme Graphics and they do entire car wraps.

Light pewter is one the more desirable and most beautiful color.

Enjoy yr car. Drive it till I dies as you can't sell it for anything.
I had some Minor paint wrk done at the only MB body shop here in north van that is not a franchise... They f'd it up 2x. Had car over a month. It's all the same crappy young people they hire doing the wrk. Macco could have done it better.

Paint it and enjoy yr car!!

I'd be worried about moisture and rust. But I don't know much about wrapping. But costly to remove no?!!?
