I am alsmost sure it was an LE, but
if it wasn't, then it was the sliver one with a sport package that I saw, ad tok a thorough look at because unlike the normal LE's this one was open and being dealer preped when I saw it so I looked and touched the inside a ittle more....

This is, in fact an option that is available for order on cars now. In fact we have a few cars that will be arriving later this week with that option. When they come in I will try to post some pictures.

The option is only $1800, which pales in comparison to the price of the same option on current bodystyle (around $4000).

I do not know why it would NOT be available. If you look at the other AMG models, there are no options that you can't get on them that is available on the standard models.

The remote-controller stationary heater [mainly for cold countries, allows you to heat the car up without going outside] is available [in Germany] on SL500 but not on SL55
If the glass roof isnt available on my SL55 (right-hand-drive, probably July/August), i'll get it retrofitted later if possible .. I love the glass roof on my R129 SL

Have you heard anything in the UK about a recall of the SL 55?
One of the posters on this board has said that they are recalling the 55 due to problems with the supercharger but I have been unable to find any other evidence of this.

well, in his defense, he stated "here is a picture", rather than something along the lines of "I took this picture" or "this is my picture and I'm sharing it with you".
My guess is that he works in politics or marketing, where such fine distinctions are ordinary course of business.

Nope, but as its not released yet that doesnt suprise me. Im meant to be 1st on my dealers list, but the dealer doesnt yet have a production slot [and I know of one other person in same situation] for the SL55.

actually comes from DC's official press site, copyrighted by DC and can be copied or downloaded by anyone with DC's permission. I can name at least two dozen sites that have posted this same picture. MB SPy does this themselves all the time and even has the gaul to put giant "MB Spy Preparation" labels across the photos just because they cropped them!!!

We refer people to your site almost daily...this is all about sharing not exclusivity. If this bothers you, you should charge to download photos...but then you would be violating DC's coprights.
