If you are updating the R230 then :

1. The front park distance control needs to be switchable. I'm tired of the constant bleeping as I cruise down narrow Cornish lanes with every blade of overhanging grass setting it off and drowning out...

2. The very inferior sound system which now grates. Its poor, and if you are thinking of buying, get the Bose system. My son's Focus' system is twice as good, but at least it makes a noise that drowns out....

3. A rattle from the two front windscreen visors and the exhaust baffles, I think, which at least distracts me from...

4. The windscreen wiper which goes off unprompted on a dry but bug-smattered screen.

Otherwise its a great car. And a great summer to enjoy it too.

BTW, does anybody in London or elsewhere get a really good or even perfect TV picture?

The parktronic is switchable from the centre console.......but I agree that it can be irritating if left on in our narrow country lanes.

As to the TV........well my R230 is TV less but my C32AMG has it and I find it a complete waste of time. OK for the odd occasion when I am parked waiting for somebody, but the very variable reception is a nuisance. Don't miss it all in the SL.

I just wish that the standard SL500 had the throttle response (and the performance) of the C32. The standard Mercedes throttle action is dull witted beyond belief once you have experienced the AMG remapping.

Thank you, I really did not know that. I daren't turn it off in case I forget the reverse one is off. Rely on it a great deal...
Need them independently switchable, methinks.

I don't have the TV tuner but it sounds like it ranks right up there with the ventilated seats, distronic and linguatronic as a waste of money. Oh, I forgot to mention the garage door opener which doesn't...

on your sound system have you tried to select the driver choice for the sound setup? it does compensate and change the sound for the better.

Yes worth checking.....
....my mate said the sound in his SL500 was rubbish even though he had the BOSE.

He eventually realised it was set on the "voice" setting which is a truely awful way to listen to music.....!!!

A quick fiddle with the settings and high fidelity was restored.

Tried everything with the sound and its still ****e. I think there's a problem....

BUT

dropped the wife off at Matalan this afternoon, hate the place so sat fiddling with things as you do, and watched the cricket on TV - with an absolutely perfect picture!! All channels!

Can't quite believe it....
