2001 SL500 Engine Swap to CL55 AMG -Non Compressor

Hello everybody i´m from germany and i am planing to swap my sl 500 2001 model to an AMG 55 Motor from an CL55 C215 with 360 HP

Now you will think, why is this guy so stupid to swap a whole engine for only 54 HP more power. The reason is, my transmission is broken( i think its the right word) it doesnt work any more.

my motor needs to much of oil and water and hat about 250.000 km

The ne engine got only 68.000 km.

Here in germany nobody really know if this will fit.

but i know that it will. can you give me some advices?

I have the engine plus transmission from the cl 55.

I think this will fit. an also the wires will fit?

only the software is the problem i think.

sorry for my english. i wasnt in school for some years^^

This is my SL

There's a guy on the CLS forums who did the conversion from the 5.0 NA motor to the 5.5 AMG engine from an E55. I'd start there.

I think you mean the white one?

He put a 55 Compressor motor in his cls.
There İs a Big difference i think.

I have started my Project Already. And found one Problem.
My sl shows the Oil digital and the cl has the normal System where you can Look After the Oil where the engine sits

Oh my god, there are so much Problems.
My Old 500 Motor is since yesterday Out of my car. But now you can See, that the oiltank( i dont know the right wird for it) under the car, goes mich more deeper on the New motor. Or the headers are different. Or the holder for the Motor is also different. Thats Not Good -.-

You need to relax. MB V8's of the years and model you're coming out of (CL55 & SL500) are all the same family. Meaning yes the bare essential block is the same.
This is where you have to start taking careful notes.
You will have to change the oil pan from the SL(and the oil pump most likely as well as the windage tray and oil pan return pickup.
Exhaust manifolds from the 500 go directly onto the 55.
Your real problem is going to be the CL55 trans. You need to go to Peachparts MB forum and get professional help from a very tech savvy member there Whipplem104

Hey can somebody give me an answer to this Problem....

I will Chance now the oil Pan. From the sl 500 Motor to the cl 55 Motor.

Somebody Told me that the Oilpump of my sl500 Motor is in the back and the Oil Pump of the cl 55 Motor İs in the Front.

İs that a Problem ?!

By the Way, the motorcode of the cl 55 Motor is 113.986
5439 ccm and 265 kw

It may due to language translations I think your info isn't right. I'm positive both engines have the "oil pump" in the identical spot; but the oil pickup tube that goes to the pump from the large drop down section in the oil pan that hangs down in the front of an SL and in the rear of a CL are interchangeable. Read my previous post. Swap the 500 pan and oil pickup into the CL block. Here we go again though, you'll need to use electronic oil gauge also. The SL(maybe yours is different) doesn't use a dipstick, just the dash readout for oil level.
