See attached part breakdown. Looks like item #205 Part # 2307500036. I have bought parts for my S430 from Pelican Parts, http://www.pelicanparts.com also AutohausAZ http://www.autohausaz.com These are my first go to suppliers when I am shopping for parts. They are consistently lowest price on OEM quality brand name replacement parts.

A pelican search for your part returned this.............................

AutohausAZ returned this.......................

Of course, you have to factor in shipping costs. However, if you spend a certain amount, then shipping becomes free. So, it could be a good time to buy some filters etc to reach that minimum amount. That's what I do to plan ahead for my next maintenance item.

One final thought. You can join the Mercedes EPC (Electronic Parts Catalog) which is free. You can then look up specific parts using your vin # and see diagrams such as the one that I have attached. Start by going here.......... epc.startekinfo.com/epc/login.jsp

See instructions in attached PDF post #3 here.............https://mbworld.org/forums/sl-class-...ing-floor.html

The Stabilus strut, 230-750-00-36-M24, will work well with just the right support whereas a heavy duty or a strut with more rebound may be a bit too strong. You may view the direct catalog listing here as also mentioned in the earlier post.

I bought these off "big site" for $60.75 and they work fine. Mercedes W230 STABILUS Rear Trunk Lid Lift Support Set of 2 NEW - 230 750 00 36.

Thank you for your guidance, however, can you tell me what the difference between the 2 different part number other than cost? Which one do you recommend and why?

Best Ira

Mark/Pelican Parts
Ira, Mark from PelicanParts answered your query. If you open and look at the pdf that I attached to my post you will see that the direct replacement part number is 230-750-00-36-M24 as mentioned in Mark's post. The "01" version must be the heavy duty model that Pelican does not recommend. You can never go wrong using a direct replacement part number from a quality OEM supplier such as Stabilus from PelicanParts.

According to the PDF file mercy me posted there's 2 sets of shocks. Accounting for the different code #'s 00,01 The 01 is listed as tubular frame shock as in opening the trunk from the back to store the roof. The 00 part # is listed as trunk lid which would be the type that fail most often. But if the trunk closing shocks are spent then the rear opening trunk frame type would they likely be spent as well?
Maybe I'm missing something. If the 00 is for the trunk closing apparatus why does the PDF file only list one shock and it show two for the frame that opens from the rear to collapse the roof ?
Anybody ?
Thanks

Thank you Bob and Hary for the feedbacks,Know i have better understanding of the differences. Also, I wanted to make sure I do not order the same part as MB, since they do not last long.
