I shipped a vehicle from Colorado to CA and found that mover "brokers" such as http://www.autotransport.com often post the shipment on a broker website and the shipment goes out for bid. Shippers who have an existing or future route who can conveniently pick up and deliver your vehicle without much additional travel will bid on your shipment. It's hard to tell who will actually pick up your car. When I shipped my vehicle a transporter traveling from Ohio to CA stopped on that run to pick up my car. He had on his transport an antique car that was going to be sea shipped to Australia. All went well with my vehicle shipment.

I would recommend not going to a 'broker'(looking for the lowest price for max profit) but actually dealing with the ENCLOSED transporter himself.... i was having lunch once on tamiani trail -rt 41 in southwest fl.
looking out the window i saw an exposed transporter, the most common kind with multiple vechs , make a turn
the top car, the one whos nose sits above the cab hit the traffic signal
the truck was going at a brisk pace, so you can imagine the damage to the top windshield and roof..poor owner
the transporter just kept goin, and that traffic signal was swingin like mad.

When I moved my SL65 from CA to NC I used http://www.nationwidetransportservices.com/ and they moved the car cross country for $800 on a professional transporter. The company is an agent and the company that ended up moving the car was obviously different but overall they did a great job.

I used http://www.cascadevehicleshipping.com/ when I shipped my ML from GA to WA.
They charged me $1425 when I was getting other quotes as high as $1850+ (most quotes were around $1600-$1700).
Arrived ok, open top.

Great company
I just had mine shipped from Florida to the Bay Area I went through united and dealt with a guy named ken. He did a great job of keeping me update and in the loop every step of the way. When all was said and done once the car got picked up it took only 4 days to arrive and cost $1075. His number is 1(310)871-7760 if you want to talk to him directly, oh and he drives a Sl63 so he knows what's up!

I have used DAS (Dependable Auto Shippers) twice, most recently from Las Vegas to western TN and they do a great job, car comes without a mark on it (which, let's face it, is the overriding consideration) and about 800.00. Only downside is waiting while they Ping-Pong between terminals while you watch on their tracking site. But WTH...it's over pretty quick!

here is a suggestion- occasionally i watch a show on the speed channel.
it is called 'chasing classic cars'.dont know if it is ava on all cable sysms.
at alot of these shows(extremely expensive and rare cars)they have the transporters parked in the background.as the camera is panning and with paper and pencil handy, grab the name of a hand full of these transporters and get quotes.you can clearly see the company names painted on the trucks...i have just done that and gotten two quotes.

Hi, It is very important to choose the reliable car shipping company. You can stay cool and relax only if your car is in the hands of trustworthy professional and experienced car shippers. Two major factors you have to concentrate while choosing car shipping company is the Previous customer reviews and the auto transport quote.
The most easiest way to identify the best car shipper is easy with TransportRankings.com. All you have to do is just fill the auto transport quotes form in http://www.transportrankings.com/TRS/ Then you will receive free quotes from many car shipping companies. Compare all the quotes and decide the company that can satisfy you in your budget.

I shipped my car from Nevada to California using All America Auto Transport (http://www.aaat.com/), suggested by my friend. They really did a great job and my car was delivered safely and on time. Moreover their prices were more reasonable. I would recommend you to go through their services.
