SL/R230: R230 Heater Blower not working
I have been replacing items to try and get this to work as it just stopped working.
The heater control unit on the facia lights up when I press/turn anything.
The actual fan is working as I've connected it to 12v and it's fine.
The heating elements and automatic vent flaps are ok.
So, I changed the resistor pack on the blower unit from one I found on ebay (reproduction I think).. This made no difference. Thinking that part may be faulty from 'ebay' they sent another one again, it made no difference.
My next step, out of desperation, was to source a used heater control unit to replace my existing unit that appeared to light up and work. So I found one and fitted it but guess what... Still blower not working. (Even after I disconnected the battery and reconnected to see if it cleared).
As I've changed the only two things that I can think of, does anyone have any idea what the cause may please?
Thanks.
I didn't find this post and although I have tested the voltages which gave readings, the 'scan tool' suggested sounds like the way forward. The readings I got fluctuated 0-8v up and down without turning the controls to adjust fan speed.
I'm also wondering if those sensors mentioned could be an issue in this too. Hmmmm...
My fan blower & Regulator Pack and heater controls are fine.
So complicated...

It's kinda sounding like the sun sensor or pollution sensor on this thread too! It's still on going though.

That thread is still going and something come out from one of these hopefully. That last find of yours has got us thinking about sensors

Thanks.

Its also odd that regardless of turning the speed control, the voltage never changes...
Sadly not yet.
No one seems to have encountered a problem past what checks I've already described in the thread.
My independent specialist has been poorly so I've had problems booking it in but this will now hopefully be done this week.
Will update when sorted and thanks for checking.
Meanwhile, if there is anyone out there that can advise you would be most welcome!
After replacing two reg packs, a heater control panel and many many hours of head scratching, the problem was due to vermin getting up into the engine area and gnawing on an a small ground wire.
