Looks awesome! It also looks like it might be photoshopped for the R230. Note the different bezel thickness on the left and right of the unit. If you do find out anything, let us know.

I would be careful to swap out the high quality player (blaupunkt), that we have in the car for this product.

Reliability is probably not that good.

Total vaporware. The date of that magazine is Feb. 2003. R230 came out just about the time that mag was published. They probably didn't even have an R230 to test this on. That unit - *if* it existed - was likely ONLY a navigation unit that replaced COMAND. You'd lose the audio and other entertainment feature with installation. i.e, no stereo. Take a look at the picture again. Poor photoshop of the unit in the R230 dash.

and the Chinese knock off someone mentioned above are very well made, installed about 7 months and it still rocks!

Spirit, can you give a bit more information on the Chinese unit you installed? Which one it was, what the install was like and if you just bypassed the installed AMP for the built in one. What year is your car? Any pictures?

I just found Spirits DIY post. Looks like the only thing extra that he added was a 5 channel amp in place of the Bose. Here's his write up. I thought I'd made my mind up but the idea of keeping all my wheel controls and not having to worry about cutting my trim has swayed me. Here's the link;
