Panorama Roof Pictures!
Does anyone have a good picture of the new SL500 with the Panorama Roof option? I have the option of purchasing a SL500 with it right now but have never actually seen what it looks like and if it is worth it. Any info would be a great help!!!! Thanks.

i saw one at a local dealer. I think it's a pretty cool option, but personally, I won't go with it. about 2/3 of the main roof panel is dark-tinted glass, and there's a shade (manual, i believe).
I didn't think that it looked all that good inside--ie the benefits you gained from having the glass panel were impacted by the fact that glass panel and shade just didn't look all that nice compared to the standard top.
just my $0.02

So the top of the roof was 2/3 dark and then what the normal sunroof was clear? Was the back and side windows also clear or were they tinted also? Could you possibly tint the top and back glass so they were all smoked? Thanks for your input! Every bit helps!!! By the way what dealer were you at, do you think they could email me a photo of the car? Stacy

SL55amg shows it well...
about 2/3 of the main roof panel is dark-tinted glass. The rest is "roof". There's more roof than I would've thought.
I live on the west coast, where I can just drop the top in 16 seconds 8 or 9 days out of 10. If I lived in, say, Chicago (wonderful city, lousy weather), I'd go for the panorama option...
Mostly, I didn't like that the roof didn't look "clean" from the inside. Especially compared to that cool "alacantra" material they put on some of the versions.

I have this panorama roof on my R129 and its defenitely better than the regular hardtop.
Here in Germany where we have plenty of days with lousy weather it gives you that convertible feeling with the hardtop mounted.
On the R 230 it should be the same.
It looks perfect on a black car.
