SL55 amg, crank but wont start

Hi all,
I am having problem with my 03 sl55, the car is cranking, but won’t start
it’s as if no gas is getting to the engine. after searching this site, I decided to change the CPS, but the problem remains, the fuel pump and filter was replace 4 months ago.
This all started after fix the cigarette light (bad fuse) after it won’t start,,
is it possible that I damage a relay / fuse,, I have check all three fuse compartment, and all is good. but I did not check all the relays,,
any suggestions?

PS: both batteries are fully charged, I charge fully charge them before working on the car, to eliminate any low voltage issues..

thanks

Roger

Same problem

I am experiencing the same problem as well. I have stored my SL55 since September and have hooked up the accessories battery to a trickle charger. (I would start up the car once a month and let it idle for a few minutes to assure the starter battery would not drain). The other day I noticed my car will crank over but won't start (cold start). My battery in the key tends to die during the 6 months the vehicle is stored. I tried trickle charged the starter battery overnight and the car fired up no problem. A day later, the car only cranks but fails to turn over. Can anyone relate to this or advise on what to do next? Is this a issue with my key or is this a fuel or CPS issue?

Could it be the crankshaft location sensor? If that fails, you can expect a lot of noise, but the engine won't turn over.

My problem was in fact the Crankshaft Position Sensor. Replaced it with an OEM Bosch part and it fired up no problem. To those who say this is the problem only when the car is warm or hot, it is in fact the problem when it is cold as well.

Absolutely spot on, sl55. It's not temperature related.
