Started wrapping my car in Satin White Pearl
Though my paint is in immaculate condition, I decided to wrap it anyways. Will be the exact same vinyl i used on my Land Cruiser so the'll be matching. lol
I do it right by removing every panel that comes out, so it's a cleaner look around the edges than wrapping it on the car like most shops do. I can take pretty much any part off, so if you need help removing a part of the car, let me know and i'll guide you through it.
Vinyl is Avery Denisson Supreme Satin white pearl. I bought 40 feet of it, at $8 a foot. Plenty for this car
With my real camera the color will look like this, i just finished the hood, fenders, and side skirts. will work on it some more on sunday.

Removing panels doesnt improve quality of wraps and not practiced when done by trained pros. It’s around trim that make or break a good vinyl wrap. Shops don’t do it on Bentley’s or Ferrari’s because it’s just not any better and sets up for bad refitment and huge timelines.
Knowing the correct way set the vinyl, heat, shrink and proper use of knifeless tape will yield a higher level of finish than pulling off panels. Good applicators can work around headlights, taillights etc without removing them.
Dont forget even Satin Pearl White has “grain” to it and all panels must be placed in unison or the reflected light will show a color variance.
Doing bumpers in one single piece and mirrors are the hardest parts on any car
Good luck

Got some more panels done today, all that's left to do is the front and rear bumpers and 1/4 panels, and mirrors. So 2 more days of wrapping then i'll be done.
Roof Trim, front rubber was super super tight, ended up removing the trim piece to tuck it down there.

I did the same thing wrapping my land cruiser, removed anything that could be removed, much bigger vehicle and that turned out great, nobody knows it's wrapped unless i told them. Same vinyl Satin white pearl. The vinyl pieces were from a single roll with horizontal orientation with the print on the back upright all around the vehicle, hood and rear hatch was vertical.

I salute individualism and applaud detail.
You have impeccable workmanship
If a shop were to work at this level chances are they’d cover the inner edge of the door skins, remove both doors to get the body structure behind the doors and do the underside of the hood and trunk to make the effect match the level of effort followed. But at that level of time you have to admit you’re edging to a point at where paint is almost the same effort but won’t change color while lasting 15-20 years more than vinyls possibly 3years before looking tired.
I did a pearl satin wrap a little over 3yrs ago. You can’t hide gravel or bug rash with a wrap. It starts to lift. Can’t be buffed out like paint scuffs either but does look very good new.
I have a good friend with a ATS-V in factory satin pearl white. Trust me from 20’ away you can tell paint from vinyl. Your cars look fabulous but no matter how you slice it, vinyl never matches paint but remains a secondary, cost effective alternative to paint.
Good Luck

Good vinyl will be astonishing but in the end vinyl is merely a way to “stand out” instead of painting

Go away already, you add nothing to this thread.
Instead of bashing on this guy's wrap job go worry about your p.o.s sl.

Got some more panels done today, got the rest of the trunk finish, what a pain to wrap. And both rear 1/4 panels done, also installed the face lifted rear bumper.
All the corners are nice and tight, removing the tail lights and rear bumper are major major pain in the ***. Pretty much gotta gut the interior trunk lining to get to the bolts.
I still have to wrap the bumpers but that'll have to be next day off, which is next saturday. I've been spending all my days off working on the car, i think the missus will take a hammer to it if i don't finish it soon and give her the attention she needs.

I do have park distance sensors, i don't think i've seen an R230 without one. I have to bore the holes for it and get new mounting brackets.
This is what i got https://www.ebay.com/itm/Duraflex-Mercedes-R230-Sl65-Look-Rear-Bumper-Body-Kit-1-Pc-For-Merced/291408070026?epid=1737634360&hash=item43d946458a:g :2kIAAOSwgJla91E4

Got some new wheels for the car, these are forged and is lighter than what i had on before, and wider.
20x9F ET +25
255/30/20 Toyo Proxes T1R
20x10.5R ET+30
305/25/20 Toyo Proxes T1R
They stick out a little past the fender, but I don't think it'll rub, looks awesome though.

Car is just about done, now all that's left is to trim all the vinyl and touch up whatever is needed. Still gotta put all the fender liners and bottom covers back on.

Thanks guys, wrapping isn't all that hard, just time consuming. I've got 40 hours into this job, i could do it quicker if i didn't remove all the panels, but i want it done right so i'm taking my time.

That really looks great. Well done!
Being unfamiliar with wrapping, my only questions are how do you go about washing the car and do you wax it? Do you have to use a special soap or wax?
