HELP False Truck open warning light

Hi,

My trunk light says it open but it's not. Can't put the top down either.

Lights show
1. Warning Light when driving
2. When stopped looks OK but as soon as you drive or try to put the top down you see #3
3. Warning when you try to put top down

Your trunk may appear closed, but I'll be it has not pulled-down into the fully latched position. It is most likely due to a leak in the pneumatic sections of the latch. See the sticky abouve regarding "soft close" issues.

Off to a Mercedes independent mechanic today. Verified it was the pneumatic sections of the latch as it wan't pulling it closed. Ran an OBD and saw the same. Did something.Perhaps reset it??? and it started working but said it may not last long.....

If (when) it locks out that circuit again, just pull fuse 71 (rear panel, under the compartment behind the passenger seat) for a moment to reset it.

The fuse panels vary by year. I compiled a list of them from WIS and put them here:

I’ve given up on this method of removing the fuse to reset it, only lasted for a day or two. I need to get mine glued.

Check the sticky (soft close trunk issues) at the top of the forum for instructions on the latch repair.
