This is like asking what the best oil is for your car...
Depends on your mission. Do you want all weather(rain) traction? Max grip and performance? Comfort and low noise?
The 3 that get high ratings from members are the Mich Pilot Super Sport (performance); Mich A/S 3+ (all season); and my favorite Conti DWS06 (all of the above).
I value all season (it rains a lot here), low noise, and moderate grip.

My last long weekend trip was 45 and wet on the way home. I had to tip-toe around with the Super Sports hydroplaning in puddles. It was dicey and not fun.
If I live in Arizona...different story. Depends on your circumstances.

Hydroplaning resistance ultimately depends more on tread pattern than the compound, right? So yeah I agree some all seasons might have a better rain dispersing tread pattern.
But assuming similar tread patterns — I might be wrong but everything I’ve ever read suggested to me that summer tires are usually better, even in heavy rain, at temps above 50.

I am a huge fan of the various Michelin Pilot models, have them on my M3 and Lexus.
My SL65 has the OEM spec Bridgestones, which have mixed reviews on Tirerack. I just replaced the rears and decided to stick with them. I got suckered into the marketing aspect of having the Mercedes spec stamp on the sidewall. So far, so good, but I only drive the car in nice weather...easy to do here in SoCal

Good Year Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 I currently run, and have nothing bad to say about them.
Else Michelin Pilot sport. Last it was the 4S model. Equal to the Good Year, but more expensive.
