The prior post is a screenshot from DAS simulation mode which is not infrequently wrong in regard to showing features that are unavailable for the selected model. It's my experience that it is best to rely upon my own 1st-hand knowledge or Mercedes technical documentation as sources for the information that I post here in the forum.
The Central Gateway was not introduced until MY2004. Searching the ETM for "Central Gateway" yields the result shown below.
Incidentally, the screenshot comes from a Windows 10 compatible version of the ETM which I downloaded from here. It is very slightly inferior to the Windows XP version in that hyperlinks on the wiring diagrams which lead to other drawings or Starfinder do not work. A bug? Does anyone else who downloaded this ETM have the same issue?

As mentioned in post #2, for this issue you simply need to replace the turn signal bulb. But in general, if you are going to do your own work and expect to keep the car for a while, then yes, you do need SDS ("Star"). And with the cost being at just around $250, it may pay for itself with you first repair.

All of the wiring diagrams are .dwf files which were created in the mid-'00s and were intended to be opened by Internet Explorer along with an add-on from Autodesk called Whip!. Whip! won't run in a 64-bit environment, so the .dwf files have to be opened using Autodesk's Design Review. While the hyperlinks work in Whip!, they do not work with Design Review. If you were to run the downloaded R230 ETM 64 and run it in Windows XP with Whip! installed, the hyperlinks would work.
I would much prefer to run the ETM in Windows 10 with no hyperlinks then run in XP with them, since loss of the hyperlinks is a minor inconvenience to me.

Mine acted like one fog light was burnt out and a couple other lights did some weird things, as a result of the battery in the trunk getting weak from the car sitting in the garage too long between runs. I got a new battery and also now use a battery tender if leaving parked for more than three or four days. All lights are fine.
