SL/R230: Overheated on highway

Overheated on highway
Was doing 80 today when I noticed the temp read max. Limped off highway into shop, it’s going to get fixed (hopefully) Monday . Am I looking at a water pump as the fix ? Was curious what you experts thought thanks - no fluid leak or noises I heard , fluid levels looked good

You should have the car scanned for codes in order to properly diagnose. Perhaps coolant level is low? Radiator fins blocked by debris? Be careful not to throw parts at this and check for proper MB spec coolant if you need to add or flush.

Apparently a bolt shredded inside the engine where all this connects in the timing cover and that has to be removed , hopefully threaded out without much more expensive replacement of half or all the engine . Ugh
