2003 SL500 Garage Door Opener won't link

Tried several times to link the cars garage door buttons to our door opener. Door opener is a 2007 vintage Lift Master with rolling code. Chevrolet SSR forum members had a similar problem and solved it with a Homelink compatibility bridge kit. HOMELINK RPTR | HomeLink Compatibility Bridge Kit | Parts | LiftMaster
Curious whether anyone here has tried this and had success.
Cheers,
Bob

Hey Bob,

I needed the home link kit for my 09 SL63 to work on a newer model liftmaster, whereas I do not need it for my 15GL. So, yes, it did work for me.

Thanks - Mine has a purple "learn" button rather than yellow as required in the specification of the bridge. Id your learn button yellow or purple? I think I'll phone them tomorrow with the model number of the door opener to determine whether it would work. If so I'll order one.

see this thread, maybe you'll find something useful before trying something aftermarket:

https://mbworld.org/forums/sl-class-...made-easy.html

If you have the owners' manual for your garage door opener it will show you exactly how to do it. Same with the car. As i mentioned in the other thread i had to try different ways several times until i found the one that worked for me.

Regards

Thanks - I'll try. I do have the handheld opener velcroed to the plastic housing behind the mirror close to the windshield and it works fine but I'm a bit **** in getting factory stuff to work so I'd really like to button on the mirror to work. These cars seem to be impervious to DIY stuff like I have experienced in my many years dealing with GM / Corvettes. I know the MB stuff is more sophisticated but give us a break on a 17 year old vehicle and let us do it ourselves without going to the dealer for $1,000 a pop or more. Don't get me wrong - love the car but also love to get my hands dirty doing stuff to make it perfect. Spent an hour trying to turn DRLs and other stuff on and got nowhere. DIC does not seem to control many things. +/- takes me to the same couple menus. I will keep trying and give up with an adult beverage before I break anything.

When I programmed my openers, I tried to "wing it" with no luck. So I got out the Opener instruction sheet and the MBZ Owners' Manual and followed the instructions step by step and was successful on the first try. Good luck!

When all else fails, read the instructions.

Good luck.

The Homelink website has pretty good programming instructions, and will advise if you need a bridge. https://homelink.com/

I needed a bridge for both my 2009 R230 and 2010 W212 on my newer rolling code opener. My older opener works great directly with the Homelink.

SUCCESS!!! Watched the video on the HomeLink site and followed directions. I was sure I followed the same process it the past but happy to report everything works now.
Thank you ALL for your help.
