2005 SL 500
Insurance Cost?
Hello everyone. I'm new here so please take it easy with me. Anyway, I just ordered a 2005 SL 500 (Bril Silver, Charcoal, AMG Pkg, Comfort, Trim and Bi-Xenon). It should be here in 8 weeks or so. I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of how much insurance will be? I live in New Jersey, have a perfect driving record and I'm with the lowest cost insurer in the state (NJ Manufacturers). I am buying the car outright so I will be able to "take and leave" from the different insurance coverages. The car will be insured as my 2nd car (pleasure vehicle) behind my 2000 Bonneville (primary vehicle). My insurance company said that they would get back to me with a quote by mid-next-week, but I am curious as to what they will quote. I will pay whatever they ask, but I want to know now what to expect.
Again, does anyone have any ideas? If you are not from NJ, can you please let me know what you pay wherever you are from?
Thanks to everyone who responds.

I'm paying $1500/year for an '05 SL55 in Central NJ with State Farm. Perfect driving record and pleasure miles rating for a 30-something guy. My Lexus RX330 is more expensive to insure than the SL55!

Interesting choices in vehicles jettie1767 and tomd. I pay $930 on the SL and $832 on my RX330. In addition, I store the SL between 10/15 and 4/15 and reduce the insurance on it to fire and theft. The SL is claimed as a pleasure driver with under 5K miles per year.

I think anyone else will have cheaper auto insurance compared to NY/NJ drivers. I believe NJ has the highest auto insurance rates in the country. However, I think I'm paying less than anyone here, so far, for an SL55.

2005 SL 500
Thanks for again for the information everyone. I got a quote of $1,773 (not counting the safty/anti-theft discounts) from my insurer (NJ Manufacturers). This is for my 2000 Bonneville (primary vehicle) and 2005 SL (as pleasure vehicle).
I can't wait to get my new SL!!

These insurance costs seem pretty reasonable to me, especially if you consider the cost of fixing even the most limited damage to these cars. A new headlight is well over $1000...
