Have a 2007 SL550 North America and I have had to replace the back passenger side (left) black plastic roof trim several times. Appears that sometimes when the car is left in the sun for too long; that part extenends and then when I open the roof it sticks on the trunk lid opening backwards and pulls off the bottom piece. This is the 4th one that I have had to replace. Does anyone have any idea what I may be doing wrong?
Also, I included a picture of the front of the car. My underbumper has been pretty damaged by the previous owner. Is there anything inexpensive that I can do to make it at least look better outside of buying a whole new 5000 bumper?

I haven't experienced that problem with the roof trim. But I have had experience with the lower bumper as my wife has scraped it on wheel stops a couple of times. I've had mine repaired/repainted by by a local company called Renew It that comes to my house and does a repair and repaint that looks like new. You might look for a similar company in your area. Good luck!
Junior, when I bought my SL 2005, it was a complete wreck..! The front bumper was cracked at the bottom and the previous owner spray painted black. Also have the front license plate holes cracked. So, I removed the whole front bumper, used an aluminum plate inside the skin and riveted to the plastic. Also used a special epoxy sold at auto body supply stores, to fill cracks. Then remove the spray can painted area, sanded, primed it and repainted. Like new, just $200 in paint, sanding paper, paint remover, primer and some sweat!
Nice where do you live? Can I visit? Not sure any such company exists around here. How much did it cost you if you don't mind me asking? T
I live in Southern California. The company, Renew It, is a franchise I think so may be available in other areas as well. If I remember correctly it cost me about $200. https://renewittoday.com/
Will check them out. Because I am unsure I could do as good a job as @elMacko I will look around. Because I have a jeep that also needs some tender love and care.
