Any changes in the SL?

Was there any change to the SL in the 2005?
Are we expecting any changes to the SL in a year or two?

thanks
Paul

Speculation

There was a lot of discussion whether the nose would transition to resemble the SLR in 2005, which hasn't happened, so you have to suspect that 2006 would be the year for this. Also, all the V-8 engines are going to change shortly to 4 valve heads and bigger bores and more HP. If it were my money, I would wait for the 2006 SL.

The only thing that is confirmed (I think?) is the DVD nav replacing the CD nav.

I read somewhere that there is a modification to the center console in the 2005; however, I have not been able to confirm that anywhere. Has anyone seen both in detail, and know for sure?

Additionally, I would imagine that many of the bugs from the previous years have been engineered out.

The '05 SL has dvd-based navigation. You lose the memory-linked rearview mirror as well as the aux port in the glove compartment.

Wife and I love the mirrors adjusting to your number. Another good idea that gets thrown out.

I'm with you Tiggerfink. Love having my mirror, especially the rearview, readjust to the memory setting.

jettie1767,

Do you know if there is an AUX jack buried somewhere in the car, or is it gone completely? I was told by a M-B service liaison that an AUX jack will be part of the new phone interface (when it arrives), but I have yet to receive confirmation of this.

Jack,

I've been looking for it but couldn't find it. I traded up from an '04 SL500 and immediately noticed the rearview mirror and the port were missing on the '05 SL55.

To answer the question that I posed above; the center console has changed. In viewing pictures from this years center console and center consoles from years past; the 2005 nav screen is approximately 30% larger and the buttons for COMAND have been reconfigured.

right, the Comand system was updated to the new DVD nav Comand, didn't you already say that in your last post?? Also, the gearshift lever is new...

In my original post, I though that new DVD NAV (COMAND) was the same as the old one. That the new one looked the same, but could now use DVDs.

Thanks for the heads up on the new shifter. Im going to check that out.
