Maybe the trunk was not closed all the way? Soft close failed to pull the lid down tight?

Check the seal under the rear window. Probably the water was running over the closed load cover then down the rear of the boot.

The factory rear seal under the windo is rubbish; it needs to be removed, cleaned up and sealed with new silicone. Any RTV will do but I used black.

This guide is the go.

I guess you should be able to see if water travelled across the luggage divider. The dreaded leaking from under the window is probably visible first on the trunk liner around the wheel arches.
What never happened on mine, so can't tell the potential severity of it, is that the third brake light can develop a leak as well. Maybe probe a finger behind the trunk lid liner, for moist in there.

If that is your issue it should be pretty obvious, if you shine a bright torch in there, under the window, where the sealing strip bolts on with a nut each side. If it's been leaking there will be signs of rust and drips of water around the seal. While you're in there check for water ingress, pooling around the roof pump at the bottom of the boot.

I found the issue, it was a torn rubber seal, can anyone confirm this part as being A2307903098

You can repair that with a little swipe of RTV sealant/adhesive.

I'll take a bit of a guess that you might also have a leaking rear window seal. Have you shone a bright light up there or run your hand over it and checked for leaks? It's such a common failure point on the 230.

I checked for leaks , only place where u had any water drops was from the 4x bolts. I have resealed these and hoping for the best.

However it will no doubt decide to test me again lmao .

Light idea is a good one, will try that today.

ideas thank you for tip

The seal in the photo was were I had my issue, I removed the rubber temporarily, cleaned off the rust on the metal lip, painted then applied sealant and re-fitted the rubber seal, all dry now.
