SL500 2003 - FOR SALE AS IS

Hello everyone,

I have a r230 2003 sl500 that got an incident: fire started and burnt down the front part of the car…
under the hood and both front tires. Everything cosmetic, doors, trunk, and convertible mechanism as new. I have received an offer for $2,000 but I’m sure the car is still worth more for parts… anyone would be interested?
located in East Bay Area in California.

Reminds me of an old Steve Miller song.

There is a lot more than 2k worth of good parts there. Trouble is, getting at the cash, storage and time. Plenty of asteroids in space that are made of rare valuable material, just nothing we can do about it. A junk yard could easily make more than that, but as a regular person?

I'd probably just take the offer.

Yes Dawg, to do that you need, space, free labor, patience and nothing better to do with your time. I used to own a BMW 735i needing a rear bumper assembly. Found a guy with similar car with a blown engine who sold it to me for $400 since the junk yard only offered $200, which was probably the cost in a junk yard for the bumper cover....So, I got it, removed what I needed and extra spare components, sold the transmission and light lenses netting $1000, then took the remnants to a junk yard and sold it to them for $250! Done with a little profit! So, you could probably make the $2000 with your time, space and runs to the shippers, but $2000 on hand without all that wait and time...it is worth it!

The catalytic converter fell out of place (usual worn out) and driving made the tube overheat. I little oil leak fell on the catalytic converter tube and started the fire on the spot. Everything was in perfect condition. From the windshield down to the trunk the car is in perfect condition.

Ooof, I had a part break on mine and it started to leak oil out on the cat. Made the car smell like burning rubber. I was worried it was a belt or something, I got it into the shop before the whole thing went up in flames. Only ran me about 200 bucks total, close call.
