and it was really nice! It was a very light gold color I haven't seen on a M-B before. Looked like a guy in mid-50's. I drove alongside him for a few seconds in my C240 and glanced over but he was looking straight ahead. Probably looking to avoid any tiny stones, etc. in his way

There's one of those in that colour at the local dealer near my house. It's a really beautiful champagney colour!

How does thar color compare to my SL 500 Launch Edition designo "silver metallic" which sometimes has tints of gold, biege, and very light yellow green visible? Thanks Giff Albright of State College, PA
I've seen that color before. Actually whenever i get a chance i just drop by my dealer and check out the new SL's with different color combos and options.

Coming from someone who sees 5-10 new SLs a day, I can assure you that your color is better. I'm not a big fan of khaki-colored cars, and that's what the desert gold (or whatever it's called) resembles. The almost sage green color on your car is far prefferable, in my opinion.Originally posted by giffSCPA

My SL is Desert Silver / Stone and to me the color is beautiful..I like the Designo Launch Edition color, and was offered one, but in Miami, the Dark interior did not do it for me..My understanding is that Pewter will not be available in the states until the fall..But it looks to be a hot color..

Could someone please describe the subtle differences between the following three SL car colors: designo"silver"metallic (Launch edition). pewter, and desert silver?------------Thanks much - Giff Albright of State College, PA (I have a Launch edition)

Designo Silver- This color is a greenish gold. (More green than gold)
Peweter - This color reminds me of the old Smoke Silver, a dull gold metalic almost bronze.
Desert Silver - This the closest color MB makes to the real color of gold, very bright and shiny with lots of metalic.
I hope this explains the colors a little better

u can't really get an ugly color for this car...it just can't happen too beautiful
but this one SLK that's always on San Antonio RD...BLAAHAHHAHAHAHAH it's horrible...
it's somewhere between a lime green color and the color you might turn after watching too much Jenny Jones
