AutoRox Chrome SL (pics)
My brother attended the AutoRox show over the weekend in Santa Monica and took these pics of an SL covered in chrome (at least that what he claimed). He said the pics are kind of blurry because he took them from quite a far distance, plus the car was reflecting light like you wouldn't believe!

Better Pics
Use the search for "chrome SL" and you will get numerous threads of this car. The best are the 2004 Sema Show in Vegas, with closeups of the fabled chrome SL.

Way too much!
That same car was at the LA Int'l auto show a couple of weeks ago. I think it was at a Nitto tire display. Anyway, they said it was chrome paint, can't remember from who. But really, who would even consider it for their ride? I guess on a show car it's different, but any imperfection would stick out like a sore thumb. Not too mention the bling bling effect....
