Thanks for sending these pictures out, they are the clearest and best yet. Appreciate the link. Not sure about the styling until I see it in the flesh, there are some angles that don't quite go together and as others have said, the rear end looks like the CLS.
Happy Holidays...

not a fan the front or some of the interior console design...i think i see i higher/deeper backend which hopefully leads to more trunk space! overall it looks less sporty and mean than the 07-08's or the AMG 09-11's

Oh good, now there's an even greater chance everyone that sees your SLS roadster will think you just bought a SL. And on the plus side, some that see your SL will think you bought a SLS roadster.

a car that gets very poor gas mileage.
I'm not sure how I feel about this one yet, but just like the new BMW 6-series, the headlights on this are too big.

thanks for the pics.

first owners will complain while they secretly put deposits down. lol

I like it but I'm actually surprised its not too too different than the current model even though there are some obvious changes. I thinks its a good thing for resale value for our older models

impression/thoughts

Overall shape very similar to R230, which keeps it young......

Lights just too big for the flow of the overall design.....

I hope SLS Roadster owners find the right car when looking for theirs in the parking lot

Rear Trunk line too high and awkward looking lines/gaps, also looks bulkier than the R230 - looks like an afterthought, BUT could add a fraction of additional storage space in the trunk?

Interior not distinctive as original R230, other than retained curves on either side of the console.....materials look good......

Hopefully the AMG versions will really perform well as expected.......

The 2009 update - heavily criticized now looks better balanced in flow of design from the front end versus this new SL......original R230 was hard to beat for beauty.....

The change was inevitable and it will probably grow on us all......car will look better in person dynamic once again....

not happy

Havent been on the board for a while and was pleased to see the headline. Is it just me, but where is the readical change, it looks 95% the same as what I have? I remember in 2008/9 many ridiculed the front racier look and I loved it(still do) and from what I see here..where are the dramatic changes after waiting 4 plus years??? Think I will take an extended warranty out rather than spend 50K plus to look the same...

The new front bumper height requirements for pedestrian safety have ruined car design.

Very Chrysler Crossfire-esque from a few angles.

The AMGs will be great. Still prefer my '09 65.

360 Spider
I think the design will grow on most people. I may actually trade the 360 for a new SL next year. I like the aluminum construction (less weight), the new engine and the larger dimensions. Just need to pick a color....

How did you feel about the overall height of the car, I'm afraid that it looks like it is higher than the current ones, more like camaro or something.
I do like the sides and the rear but not so sure about the front, I just felt like I was seeing dodge truck or something, it does not look like a sport MB, no so smooth and sporty from front, in other words, less girly, lol

I'd keep the 360 Spider and buy a SL55 or current SL63 AMG. That's just me lol.

Personally, I think the car looks like an ugly slab of concrete on wheels. The front end reminds me of an old Nissan Stagea, and there's not much difference from the R230 rear end, if anything, I much prefer the R230, much nicer car IMO. But each to his own.

Looks hideous in the pictures. The've dumb'd it down and robbed it of its true personality, but I'll wait to see it in person. But for now....R230!

Post This pic is ok but not sure what model it really is? Perhaps a concept picture?

It does not look like a true SL as I can not make out retractable top lines... Looks more like a sports coupe... do they even make one? Dig the wheels but it needs fog lights real bad as the lower grill is way to..... empty?

I actually kind of like the more horizontal grille, makes it look more aggressive. They also had this design where the chrome part splits in the middle and that looked pretty cool. The chrome accents along the LED's are also nice. I also love the new windscreen and sunroof feature. Overall I think it look ok BUT... the horizontal grille reminds me of a mustang, the tail lights look like its from a 5 series, and the headlights makes me think of and inverted maxima headlights. It just doesn't have that definitive mercedes design the old SL had (the body does kind of look like the SLS but I'm not a fan of that replacing the SLR either).

I still remember when I saw the SL500 back in 04 in a car and driver magazine compared to the SC430 and XLR (back then representing 75% of hard top convertibles), I thought I'd never drive one and was so happy once I got it. For me the pre face lift r230 will always iconically represent the SL class. But, to each his own I guess.
