$1995. for the 3 yr tire and wheel policy from dealer
I am picking up my SL550 on Friday.
I am torn on the tire and wheel policy. $1,995 FOR 3 years which includes cosmetic damage.
I am in South Florida and the roads are average. I am more concerned about nails from construction.
That seems high. I have had 2 policies b4 on other cars. 3 claims put in,, 2 tires replaced for free and a third denied to tire wear.
I assume these cars have run flats? How much is a new run flat tire? Have never had them b4.
Thoughts?

We picked our SL up last week and purchased the package.
Our roads here in Honolulu are full of potholes. In the past I have had multiple rims and tires replaced by both the City and State, but it always ends up in small claims court which is a real hassle. So for me it was a no brainer considering the cost of the AMG rims and run flat tires plus if I scratch the rim on a curb it will be repaired as well which normally costs $75 each occurance. (if i'm not mistaken, our policy is 4 years)

It's worth it. Other than the very expensive rims, the tires are run flat and don't take repair easily. Get a nail and it's gonna cost---doesn't take long to cover the cost of the insurance.

In my opinion, the better "investment" is the $4500 to extend the factory MB warranty to 7 yrs/125,000 miles, which will be fully reimbursed if one sells the vehicle prior to it reaching 4-yrs or 50,000 miles.

Gocargo is right if you tend to keep cars a long time. We don't. There are too many advancements and improvements over a 5 year period not to upgrade. Regardless, you only need to bang 1 rim to break even and put money in your pocket.

Is there a time limit to when this 3 year tire and wheel policy expires and does it applies to all Mercedes Benz dealers in the US? I live in Northern Virginia, Washington D.C.
