Anyone have an idea why my 2020 E350 MSRP has a $250 code SPC (special order charge) ?

There are, or at least there used to be, some “special order” or “SPG” options available on some models. To order these “special” options, you first had to pay a “Special Order” fee. When I ordered my 2014 ML350 BluTec, I ordered a special suspension option they had. I had to pay the $3,500.00 for the option, but I also had to pay a “Special Order” fee. Sort of like an “Admission Ticket” to the side show. WHAT in the world are you ordering??? Enquiring minds want to know!

big trade-off: the 19s with Conti RFTs made the car handle like a slot car racer! not once did the rears spin on acceleration or slide on a turn. that said, I was afraid that any manhole cover or expansion plate would open up one of the welded cracks in the right front wheel. it's taken a while to learn how to relax going over bumps but the "ride" is undeniably better. not sure if it's the Bridgestone RFTs (tire shop recommendation) or just the narrower, taller, non-staggered size but the handling in undeniably sloppier. luckily, aggressive driving has become more the exception than the rule of late.

also, looks-wise I'm loving the silver of the wheels, which really makes the chrome trim pop. the 19" multispokes were more gunmetal gray (sort of the color of brake dust, lol) and a real drag to keep clean. the Porterfield pads have reduced the dust by like 90%. I still haven't sorted out the center caps: the tire shop said the set of classic silver stars I bought on Amazon for $15 didn't fit, so I still have the Mandrus "M" cap in. when I got my original wheels and tires home I played around with another set of Amazon caps I had purchased, as well as some old OEM silver stars I have, and the Amazon set is tighter, but I could get them in, making me think the tire shop might just be too timid. I was at the dealer yesterday looking at real MB center caps ($20-$25 each) and the choices are overwhelming: sterling silver, titanium silver, silver stars on black....I couldn't decide!

Re: Porterfield pads
Pls advise:
1)PNs F&R
2)Do you have the drilled rotors F&R ?
3)Do you think they will mate OK with my 2018 SL550 (i.e. does your 2015 SL400 have same brakes/rotors/calipers ect as the brakes in the the 2018 SL550 ?)

THANKS, Steve

I believe so, but someone else here will more likely know for sure.
