Key Fob Batteries...
Has anyone had any problems with any particular brand of battery in the key fobs. I received a message on my dashboard A few weeks back that I need to replace the battery and I did it in both key fobs and after about four or five days the SL tells me to replace the batteries again. Is there a particular brand that is better than the others? 2019 SL 550 Thank you

I had some similar problems several months ago and asked my MB service adviser about it. He said MB had recommended they use Panasonic battery’s with no reason given. So far I’m having no more problems.

Check with your dealer. The guy behind the parts counter at mine replaced the battery and remarked offhand that for unknown reasons one brand worked much better than others. Can’t remember which brand it was, though, sorry.

Do you get the message when using both keys or only from one ? I usually replace batteries on all the remotes of the cars I have using batteries from Batteries Plus, never had a problem. If you get the message from both remotes then probably the batteries were some poor quality, if you get the message from only one remote it may be that specific remote, switch the batteries and see if the problem persist, that is my opinion.

It's likely the age of the battery. These batteries will lose potency just sitting around. Amazon buyers constantly complain about outdated batteries being sold on Amazon.

I have has issues with all makes and models of coin batteries
I think it is due to them not being used much so they sit on shelf too long and they do not like sitting doing nothing so they give up electrons...
Coin batteries = Ultimate Gambling!

I have had good results with Amazon Batteries - Just keep them in the refrigerator until needed.
The other trick when the car is sitting idle - lock the car and then press the lock button a second time so the remote is not constantly communicating with the car.

I used to store batteries in a cold place but there is no evidence this helps prevent slow discharge. However, they should be stored at "room temperatures". Hot environments will speed their discharge.

There is a small manual key hidden in the fob in case the battery goes dead to open the car door. You press on a tiny button on the fob and pull the key out, turn it around backwards and insert into the fob and the whole side cover will pop off. Take out old battery, insert new. Pop cover back on and insert key back into fob the correct way. Done...
