SL/R231: Trunk Lid Hydraulic Line Leaks
Last edited by JettaRed; Mar 24, 2022 at 08:43 PM. Reason: Add pictures.

Thats a bummer, hopefully an easy fix for you.

LOL Pictures help. now that you posted them.

I'm not sure what answers you're looking for. You answered your own question.
Looks like one of your lines is kinked.(and leaking) Perhaps from a previous repair? Or the line hit something in the trunk on closing.
You should have the WIS and EPC as part of your laptop with XENTRY. Pretty straight forward.
I would replace that line, maybe both if they look suspect.
Good Luck

Reference that part number in your EPC (see if the lines are attached to it or in the same diagram)

I'm actually talking to a company Top Hydraulics that does a lot of work on Mercedes tops. Apparently, they build a custom line set a couple months ago for someone with the same problem.

lines look to be part of assy as pictured in the eBay listing. EPC pictures are not always correct. (But you better make sure)

- It does not squirt if I manually close the trunk. I will need to put some paper towels down to see if anything squirts upon opening.
- The right side appears to have previously been replaced. Routing of the lines seem to be smoother and the cable ties are not trimmed as neatly as they would be from the factory.
Thanks to the hard work and diligent efforts of @crconsulting I was able to identify the hydraulic lines needing replacement. The part number is 2318002115 and they run about $120 through various online parts places. However, I will now have an opportunity to try out the 3rd party extended warranty (actually, a Vehicle Service Contract) from Endurance that I got for the car. I'll let you know how that goes.

Your "strain reliefs" are not positioned correctly.
If the "strain reliefs" were properly installed (should be located where the bend occurs) you would not have a kinked line and no leak.
I just checked mine and my plastic segmented strain reliefs (just like yours) ARE installed correctly.
So.....I would say you have a complaint even if out of warranty that MB should cover.
Others should check their lines and if the strain reliefs are not correctly positioned (should go over the lines where the bend occurs) they should be fixed by owner or by MB
Are there any updates from the people that got the problem fixed?
Has anyone fixed the problem themselves? After replacing the hose, I expect you would need to fill the system again with fluid.
I have a 2013 SL63 with the same issue and I’d like to take a crack at fixing it myself before taking it to the deal.

In addition to replacing the line, the system had to be bled of air, etc.
Good luck
