Pretty much. A plastic pry tool can be quite helpful (available from Harbor Freight or Amazon). The rear of the trim piece has a “tongue” that slides into the console. The rest of the trim uses light “prongs” that slip into a mating part on the console. It’s best to loosen a few of those before attempting to slide the tongue portion out. If you go slowly these pieces come apart quite easily.

Not sure if they have Harbor Freight in Great Britain. Maybe Walmart?

The videos show to grab the middle of the trim piece and pull from there. That pops out the clips and pulls the "tongues" front and rear from their slots. It also helps to remove the top or the rear center storage area with the sliding cover. It pulls off straight up.

Yea I have a set of pry tools that I purchased in 2012 to install the SmartTop in my SLK. Thanks for the info.
