2013 SL 550 R231
Wink SUBFRAMES
Hello all,
Can anyone tell me if there is a difference in the subframes between the R 230 and R 231 and what are they.
I know there is a difference in lenght and width and also I have read that the R 231 has Titanium crossmembers.

Far too many differences to list. The 231 was a completely new design.

On the material side, I'm pretty sure (but not totally positive) the body and skin are all aluminum with the exception of the windshield frame (high strength steel) and roof (magnesium alloy).

I just received mail from MB stating that they have extended the subframe warranty to lifetime for corrosion...Just came in the mail today...

Interesting. Since I purchased mine from a MB dealer and bought a CPO extension I hope my SL is also included. Nothing from MB yet.

Probably just hasn’t arrived yet. Instructions say to keep the info in the car with the warranty card, etc.

Yes, our cars are covered. I got the letter for my C350, but not the SL400 yet. Not to worry, the letter does not limit coverage to a specific VIN, though your VIN is listed on the letter.
