MB Cary NC told me my 2014 is too old to be updated.

So I just use old out of date system for general guidelines. If it don't look right then pull out Google maps and get it sorted. This is a small car that can go on most roads. Not a large RV that has height or weight restrictions.

Could also consider retrofitting an android screen so you can have smartphone integration like carplay and android auto plus better graphics and more (?) features than the stock system.

That’s why I list the labor charge for the dealer. You are fortunate that your dealer installed for free labor. How much did they charge for the software?

$99 for the software. No other charge. I believe MB was having a special...the normal price was $150 for the software.

Good luck with this supplier (mbnavupdate.com). I sent my money, got a receipt confirmation and then nothing. No response to emails and no update. I had a problem with PayPal getting my money back as well. Frustrating as hell!!! That was back in September 2022.

I just inquired to benzninja about an updated mapset for my 2015. When I bought the car in 2019 the dealer did update the maps so they are about 4-5 years old now. My question is for the install. I only have a desktop PC that runs Windows. Both of my laptops are Chromebooks. Can I do any prep on my desktop PC and then take the USB and install in the car without the use of a computer? Thanks in advance.

You are fotunate. Just called my dealer and asked about map updates. They do not sell to the customer and allow customer to install. They want $200 to update my maps. I am waiting on a reply from benzninja.

Be prepared, however, as loading the map software can take a while. If I remember correctly, the car needs to be running or at least "on" with a battery charger connected. When I did mine a while back, I think it took well over an hour. Plus, you can't just leave it and forget, you my have to restart the process several times. Kinda why I went with the Roadtop CarPlay kit so that I never have to worry about updated maps again.

My SL took approximately 45 minutes to complete the update to the original maps. And the process completed without requiring any restarts.

OTA normally will do its thing in the background but when doing manual updates apparently the speech data gets updated as well so that adds to the process making it longer.

How do you check your current map version?

When installing new mapset does the engine have to be running? I will have a maintainer on the battery during the install?

Scroll down and it has MAP VERSION.

Mine said V18 (2018)

Wonder when 2023 version for NTG 4.5/4.7 is coming out if latest is only 2020 yet others are up to 2023?
I can wait as I do not use it much at all anyways.

Oris something they do not plan on updating anymore since it maybe considered old?

The car has to be "on" whether "running" or not. I ended up driving around when I did the update on one of my cars and it finished while I was driving.

I believe V20 was released in 2019 so it's 4 years old but perhaps it is the latest that will work on my 2015.. My dealer updated my mapset in June 2019 when I bought the car.so I'm a bit confused as to what to do. I was hoping to get a version that would be current.
