Windscreen makes a difference, 2+2 or not. Porsche is a 2+2 and was able to successful integrate an electronically retractable windscreen. It's a fail. period.

Unless you plan to regularly use the rear seats, just leave it installed. The seats are marginal anyway and if the windscreen makes a big difference, then just leave it installed. Certainly not a deal breaker IMO.

I agree, I'd leave it in. Still clumsy and lazy design.

Does either the 55 or 63 come with soft close doors? I couldn't find anything on the dog about that...

Huh, good catch. Maybe it'll be added soon.

The press releases do not mention it, so they aren't included. Those parts are very constrained at the moment, like the EQS.

Totally agree. Had the pre-facelift S cabrio without wind deflector behind the front seats (only the fancy electric one in the back...........that does not work and is just a gimmick). The new/facelift car had this as an option and it really gives you several months of extra open driving, it works that good. I leave it mounted always, when a 3rd or 4rd person want to drive along, no problem, we remove it together (it fits in the trunk) and put it back in afterwards. In the SL this will be even less of a problem, since only children (< 1m50) can sit in the back.

I think it is Crystal Silver. I have it on my current car and it is indeed great (silver grey, more tech/modern look then beige). Be careful with jeans on it, but it can be cleaned relatively easy.

Oh well. Guess I’ll have to settle with a 55 if we do it. My wife wants no part of those uncomfortable sport seats.
Am I reading right though that the sport seats get the air scarf too?

Yep, Sports Seats get Air Scarf as well. The Comfort Seats are standard on the 63, although not available with certain packages which upgrade to the Sport Seats.

I bet the packages I want will make you get the sport seats. Can any attest to the fact that these sport seats might be very similar to say those in the E or C class AMGs? (Those are the sport seats I’ve tried out.)

Dang it!!!!! No black. What the heck Mercedes!

Look at my build. No sport seats equals no CCB's, but almost everything else can be added as a specified option.

The seats look just like the standard performance seats (Recaro) in several MB models apart from the seat backs, etc. We had the same in our E63s. I love the fit for myself but they are not for everyone. The ride quality should be better than the C or E if the driving feedback of the new SL is to be believed. But if the seat itself is uncomfortable that won't matter...

Btw. the shown seats with Alcantara seating area won't have any ventilation, only the leather ones will.

New PDF uploaded. Some pretty major updates. New options added and many things added to "Options In Detail".
Also:

11/09/2021
  • AMG Performance Seats (555) and associated code 409 are delayed until further notice. These components have been removed from the DY2 package on the SL63 and have been blocked from ordering on the SL55. As such, upholsteries 701 and 711 will also be delayed.

Thanks!

The good news is an SL63 buyer doesn't need to be locked into having AMG Performance Seats if he wants the DY2 package with performance upgrades.

The bad news is the AMG Performance Seats are unavailable until further notice. (However it looks like page 14 wasn't proof-read because it still shows AMG Performance Seats "only with DY2.")

But it looks like they cleaned up their act a bit with their originally very restrictive order guide.

However, there is still a problem in the ordering system configurator with making the changes and removing some of the optional packages from my build, and replacing them with DY2 and the carbon fiber trim, and the CCB's. Trying not to create a totally new build and to remove my request position. I'll post back later in the week.

What is “P82 Guard 360” in the order guide? Some type of alarm system?
Also, does anyone know what color the default headliner is? I really don’t want to pay extra for the option one but I want and assume it’s black.

See page 11 of the order guide. For the standard leather interiors, "black cloth" (as opposed to black microfiber) is the default. With the more expensive upholstery (diamond quilted or black leather with yellow or red contrasting stitching), microfiber headliners are standard.

Thanks @SouthernNC I see it now. I thought you were crazy at first. I’ve been trying to do this on my phone and when I blow it up it cuts off the last column. I need to check this on a computer before I send my build.

Gorden Wagner posted this photo of a Hyper Blue SL with a never before seen lower bumper. Is this perhaps what the “Touring Trim Line” will look like? Also looks like the model has the white interior that I mentioned earlier in this thread which isn’t anywhere in the DOG.

Edit: As of November 13th the photo has been deleted from Gorden's social media. Perhaps he accidentally leaked a future SL43/53?

Ventilated Seats?

In the DOG - i dont see anything listed for Ventilated Seats (sorry if i Missed it). I see Heated Seats as a standalone option but does anyone know about the ventilated seats? I figure if the non-performance seats have the massage function, its a good chance they have cooled seats too. but I dont want to assume at this price point!
Thanks in advance.
