I have been very frustrated by the fact that on the SL 63 the only caliper color you can get is yellow, while on the SL55 the only color you can get is red.
I really wanted red to work with the red roof / selenite grey car and I now think the only way to get it done is to have it powder painted after market. There are a few companies that specialize in this.
This entire thing is starting to really get to me. No sports seats, no interior color I ordered and now that I see the conflict between red roof and yellow calipers in the flesh I am really starting to worry if I will like what I have ordered.

I just talked to the folks at PMB Performance ( best in class) in UTAH who use the factory process and my dealership about taking them out and re-installing them.
Net - net it can be done and should be around $ 2500 with shipping. PMB actually suggested to match the red of the roof - given this is a customer job might as well.
And yes, the new red calipers will feature the AMG script/logo. And so, that is the solution I am leaning towards.

In real life a black SL looks very good imho, but also in real life the lighter colors make the design lines more visible.

Just heard from my dealer who had " training day" on the AMG SL today hosted by MB/AMG.
Regretfully, the OP was correct, deliveries in the USA will start in July.
So, we all have a bit of a wait.

Between lack of options, no pricing and the potential for significant / further delays EPA approvals etc, I've given up for this go around and cancelled the order. It's one thing to wait, another to wait for something that isn't exactly what you want, no performance seats, yellow break calipers with red trims etc etc. My bet is that we don't see the lion share of deliveries until fall/winter.

Cabrio's in general always look best with their tops down, that being said, I still like the look even with the top up, and its much better than either the R231 and R230 which just looked hideous with their tops up imo.

Delayed release
I spoke to my salesman at a NJ dealer. He was informed that SLs will be released on June 15. No MSRP but my SL55 had option prices in his system. My SL55 has been sitting in Baltimore since April but apparently SL63s are sitting at Gernan port. Anyway hear similar information? Thanks.

It's a damn shame that a car that is about to be released still has no pricing, no configurator up yet or anything. MBUSA needs a total rethink when Land Rover, Porsche, BMW and others have pricing and their configurators up from the moment a new model is introduced. This is just plain stupid from MBUSA.

Delayed Release
Well, today is when my salesman said that the SL would be released. I am not holding my breath that it will occur. Just for fun, I just checked the MBUSA website and still not change with no configurator or pricing. Very disappointing since I have a been a long time MB AMG buyers! Fortunately, I recently took delivery on a new 2022 911 Turbo S coupe and love it. BTW, I paid no premium for this car and could sell it tomorrow for probably a $50k premium. So it is unlikely that I will take delivery of the SL55 that I ordered since I am being told that I will have to pay a premium but less than the average customer since I am a long time customer and frequent buyer at this dealer. So this is my reward?? No thank you!

Yeap. This is ridiculous. MB is starting to worry to much about their community appearance and not the customer.
I’m a little different though, if it wasn’t for the back seat I would already be gone and purchased something else.
Now though, I can’t even get two of the three dealerships to talk to me about my order or give me any updates. The one that wants a premium is the only one keeping me updated.

My only worry about wanting them to release cars with pricing, release dates, order guides, etc., is that it would simply push the debut of cars a lot later. I don't think it would mean the SL would already have information - I simply would take that as we still wouldn't know about this car, it wouldn't have had it's initial debut yet.

Apparently some consumers are quite concerned asking about pricing would delay the SL or upset MB.......really??? That type of consumer reasoning empowers MB's cavalier attitude. Most of us would like a new SL........it's not a mandated life or death decision. The SL driver should be one of the most valued MB buyers........not in the R232 case. Agreeing to pay over MSRP, I've read of cases asking $50K, is insane. Be patient and save some money.
