Pricing for used high-end ICE cars has been going up dramatically lately. A year ago you could get a low mi SL65 Black Series for well under $200k. Now they are selling for over $400k and priced close to $500k. Facelift R231 SL65's (2017/18) are being priced over MSRP. For the new SL, Mercedes is probably trying to figure out how to not leave money on the table.

Dealyed release
I was told by my salesman that release could be in mid July but I will believe it when I see it. My SL55 still sitting in Baltimore. Let me know if anyone has additional information or different from what I was told. Thanks.

I have a document that was given to me by my Sales Executive that my care which has been loitering in Germany since April 13 will be handed over to be put on a ship on July 12. Best case scenario, in my case middle of August - almost end of summer, as a 2022, with totally different interior and seats than specified and no clue how much it is going to cost -- Bravo Merceds Benz on this ode to German efficiency!!

Here in EU the cars are already driving around and approx 50 (almost) new cars are for sale for who ever wants.
Very frustrating if you ordered an early car, and have to wait so long............better cancel the order and wait for the over supply of MY22 cars, when the MY23 will be there anytime soon...........

Mercedes has always released cars in Europe first, not sure what the point is here besides MBUSA is terribly run independently of Mercedes' being on the road in Europe first.

Delayed release
My sales person said that they are expecting US release by the middle of this month (July). However, Mercedes previously told them June 15 and now it looks like July 15. I will believe it when I see it. As I mentioned previously, my SL55 has been sitting in Baltimore since April. Do I really want a car that has been sitting that long at a port and will still be a MY2022 in August? Appreciate if anyone has additional information regarding the US release.

My dealer's salesperson told me last month that my SL63, that I ordered the first week of October, was built in April. I have a VIN for it. It is sitting in Germany, but he didn't specify if it's at a port or some other location. The latest update he received from MB in June was "B5c - 8/11/2022 - FACTORY DELAYED B5C." When I asked him to decode that he said it means that the car is staying put until August 11th. We'll see, but I certainly don't think it will be released before then. And of course like others I have no pricing so we will see if I end up with this car, especially if they try to charge a ridiculous premium over MSRP. I like the car; want it; but don't need it and there are other options out there when you get above $200K.

SL delayed release
Thanks for your quick response. What am I not surprised! I totally agree with your comments at the end. Also, do I want a car that has sat since April at a port and will still be a MY2022 when most makes and models have released their 2023. Fortunately, I took delivery on a new 2022 911 Turbo S coupe in May and paid MSRP! The best car that I have ever driven including AMGs of which I have had many. So why would I pay a premium for an SL?? After this SL fiasco, I don't see buying another Mercedes and I have been a long time owner since my 1999 E55 AMG>

Add me to the list of cars built waiting for a boat to come to the USA.
But with no EPA certification who knows when these cars will be actually released. I’m my dealers first allocation for an SL63.

I think that my SL55 is the only SL sitting in Baltimore for my dealer which is one of the largest in the US. I have given up at this point and don't really care if it ever gets delivered!

Spoke to an MBUSA person this afternoon. He was told that the SL release would be in 3Q22 so that could be from now until September! I just checked the MBUSA website and not the SL change from prices coming soon to $0. Not sure what that means??

Means that they are working on that section of the website. I would expect the section to be live shortly...
