911 of course includes coupes and roadsters, and my hunch would be more coupes than convertibles.
if that assumption is right then the SL is # 1 convertible in Germany.

S63 AMG Cabrio
The question is if these are end user / customer sales, or sales into the channel (where many cars are still looking for a customer, see other thread)?

If memory serves, Germany sales are counted on new car registrations, as in post-sale customer registrations

I think that is right - and they actually call the statistic “ new car registration “

Sometimes the perception of the few people that post here is not always the total picture of sales

They might want to try American muscle...
Kind of surprise it also out sold the AMG GT though.

That I understand and I also understand that the R232 is the hot new thing but I am just surprised the AMG GT take rate is so much lower than the SL plus even lower than Mustang.

Makes perfect sense. The AMG GT is not manufactured anymore and these are existing new car inventory sales.
surprising there as that many…

Living in Europe, I can tell you we have a vastly different view of the Mustang than you do.
We are kind of stuck in the times where those were very expensive and rare on our roads because of low import. Even nowadays, most people will be more impressed by the Mustang than many other brands, it has kind of a "status symbol".

For the AMG GT, I'm not that surprised, it's getting quite old imo so it's at the end of the descending curve. I wonder when we'll see the next high end sport flagship from Mercedes.

Fair enough, well, do you think the new AMG GT might replace SL in terms of sales? I am guessing the SL did well part of the many reasons being the AMG GT is "getting old" and people want to have a "taste" of the next AMG GT and got the SL, plus they want the newest tech?

Thanks for sharing your perspective, as for when MB will show their next GT, they are already doing so for PL members at the event today and tomorrow hopefully announcement is either this month or next as a result.
