The tilted display on the CLE is worthless, it breaks the symmetry as it tilts 6 degrees towards the driver
Thought you were aware of the tilting screen (mechanically) as well when I talked about it here: https://mbworld.org/forums/sl-class-...ml#post8811208
My bad, should had asked for confirmation.

One nice feature on the CLE is the retractable windscreen which is a big miss on the SL.

Hopefully becomes an option next model year for the SL or if not offered on the facelift.

I doubt it. MB would have already had it in standard if there was a simple way to keep it.

I find that one to be a truly MASSIVE mistake on MB’s part with the current SL. You spend huge bucks for the car and then you have to deal with the clumsy, ugly windscreen, that is either on the car constantly or never there when you want it. It gathers dust and gets banged up sitting in your garage. The retractable windscreens in the R231 SL’s and the Porsche Cabriolets are things of beauty and, without a doubt, should have been engineered into the current SL. I can’t wait for someone to say they did the removable screen to “save weight.” Oh well, for the R232 facelift, perhaps MB will offer a REMOVABLE hardtop. Wouldn’t that be a hoot!

Although was a fad, I haven't seen motorized camera phones' camera motor fail yet.
Ugh spoke too soon: https://mbworld.org/forums/sl-class-...n-failure.html

”MASSIVE mistake?” Talk about first world problems. The retractable windscreen on my ‘22 Carrera S Cabriolet had a very finicky switch. I keep the windscreen attached in my SL since nobody’s ever going in that rear seat anyway, and sticking my arm back to fold it up or down is quicker and more efficient than the switch in the Porsche. I don’t know how the retractable windscreen functions in the R231 but I don’t like the styling of that car and would never have considered purchasing one.
