Phone charger hyper sensitive and lazy
So, my only comparison is wIth a BMW ALPINA B7 - I put my phones in the tray any way I want and it charges and quite quickl.
Not so in the SL-
you must put it precisely to the mm I the tray prior to starting and don’t even think about doing this mid drive.
Plus, in the BMW it actually charges - in the SL all it does is maintain statuesque.
Am I overlooking the obvious?

What phone do you have? There are known issues with the wireless charger and iPhones that have Magsafe. The magnet interferes with the charging and there's a software update to fix that.

Works fine for me with my SL63. I do put it in before driving and it always charges easily naked and fine with some cases and not so easily with others. Naked placement isn’t fussy but gets more fussy with some non-Apple branded cases. Hadn’t heard of the software update. Sounds good.

So, the car just came from service and they also did the software update.
Regretfully it made no difference- and charging the i phone is still hit or miss.
sometimes it will not charge at all and sometimes one has to fiddle a couple of mm here and there.
Quite infuriating really.

Fortunately, I have had no problems wirelessly charging my iPhone 14 Pro in my E400. I have to think the charging bay is similar - am I wrong?

That is what I a, doing and still hit and miss. More miss than hit.
interestingly my wife’s I phone which is one generation older has no such problems.
