SL/R232: SL55 Exhaust Sound Suddenly Muted

SL55 Exhaust Sound Suddenly Muted
I got my 2022 SL55 about two months ago (bought CPO at 600miles and now 1600miles) I have been driving it with joy, specially when hearing its loud bang, pop and crackle exhaust sound at Sports+ mode.
All of a sudden that bang, pop, crackle sound disappeared. It feels like W205 C63 facelift version, as if the sound was muted with OPF filter. Something is definitely off and I don't know what could that be.
I only hear a regular Comfort mode exhaust sound at Sports+ (tbh slightly louder in Sports+ but no more bang, pop, crackle) Has anyone experienced something like it?

Do you think MB can revert the issue during service A?
I'm so frustrated knowing there is another member with the same issue.

My SL63 just showed an exhaust change at 15K miles, but only after the "check engine" light came on then quickly went off again. I am pretty sure the baffles somehow changed after that so that the pops and crackles almost completely stopped. However, the exhaust sound on acceleration sound pretty much the same, it was far more different for the backpressure sound after letting off of the gas. I have a scheduled service coming up pretty soon so will just wait for that since all the other aspects seem fine.

I had many error lights poppin up after my battery died, all of them disappeared after i shut of the engine after a 15 min drive except for the check engine light! That check engine light remained for at least 2 more hours while driving until it also went away by itself.. maybe thats the reason, i will see whether they're able to fix this on monday service A. If not, i will sell the car immediately, i fell in love with the sound and power, if these 2 somehow got muted without a solution im simply selling it

Sounds like this is common. My car died after running out of gas. Kinda embarrassing but not totally my fault, the gas mileage showed I should have made it to my destination with about 10 miles surplus. Long story short, the pops and crackles are no longer there since the incident. The car is no longer fun without the sounds! Will schedule a service check.

The same exact thing happened to my SL63 for about a week. Roughly 2k miles in. Then one day the exhaust returned to normal operation with the pops and bangs. Maybe electrical, Maybe a stuck valve in the exhaust. Maybe give it some time and it may return to normal. Good luck.

Another thing to note but you most likely know already, it is never a good idea to run the tank low even below half a tank as the fuel cools down the fuel pump, out of fuel there is no fuel to cool it down, unless you don't want to carry a full tank of gas all the time (the extra weight and consider that as a big enough pro to a decreased lifespan of the fuel pump although modem fuel pumps are pretty robust hopefully).
Last but not least the 10 miles left was just an estimate only based on your recent driving behaviour but it can't predict what roads are you going like if there is stop and go traffic, steep hills or if you have a sudden change in driving behaviour, like if you were driving in sport all the time but all of sudden you are driving in sport+ that sort of thing. In one way, same goes with a phone battery, the percentage is mainly an estimate and you will notice the percentage doesn't drop at the same rate all the time.

Well, for some inexplicable reason, the clicks and pops came back in spades. I cannot attribute to anything I did or didn't do, no change in drive patterns, no long trip with all driving on 2 lane local roads, etc. Very happy to have the wonderful sounds back. Always drive on Race setting with aggressive exhaust, FYI.

Well, for some inexplicable reason, the clicks and pops came back in spades. I cannot attribute to anything I did or didn't do, no change in drive patterns, no long trip with all driving on 2 lane local roads, etc. Very happy to have the wonderful sounds back. Always drive on Race setting with aggressive exhaust, FYI.
It must have missed you and/or the whatever issue with the software cleared and the ECU agrees it is safe to retard timing again.

Wow same thing happened to mine today. After a week away, took it out for a spin as soon as I got home. All the sound remain intact. Absolutely done nothing, it was just sitting in the garage the whole time. Glad to hear all the right sound. However not comfortable having no clue why and what caused this issue. Lastly will this happen again? Maybe and possibly?

picked mine up from the service A, all good. Sound was muted because of a stored cel causing the engine to react different (safety) also had 3 other software updates done, 1 for airconditioning, 1 for rear axle steering and 1 software update of the car/engine itself
Funny to see what a dead battery can cause, these cars nowadays are filled with too much electronics and software
