2026 SL pics dashboard changes?

Digging around You Tube on the 26 SL's, I have seen pics where the bulky screen in the middle is gone and instead a longer screen which included the main driver's screen and the bulky ipad in the middle.

Not sure if photo shopped or wishful thinking. Look at frame 2:28

Mhmm : ) just ignore them.

At least you know for a fact they won't bring that old generation interior back, even though that is such a great interior.

If that dashboard presentation is accurate, I like it better. I like how it got moved up into the dash, and sits wide, instead of tall. That also makes room for 4 more vents. I wonder if it still has the tilt feature to prevent direct sunlight from heating the screen excessively.
Even still, I would have to drive it, and see how comfortable it is to access control, and viewing.

Only time will tell but personally, I like it better also. Makes the interior look larger.

That is the previous generation AMG GT 4 door design though, including the steering wheel. They won't bring it back sadly. This is clearly misrepresented. I like this design yes, I will miss it as it won't be coming back. https://static0.carbuzzimages.com/wo...400/415402.jpg

Unless we are not talking about the same thing? Just to clarify we are talking about timestamp 2:28 right?

We are. There are multiple videos on YouTube classifying this as a 2026.

At the same time you can see YouTube videos for the Maybach 2026 SL and it still has the big screen in the middle.

Time will tell

Sorry to disappoint you but no the (announced in 2021 October) R232 SL will not get that interior design which is a newer car than the X290 GT 4-door that was announced in 2018, MB is not going backwards in interior design.

Maybe it will get something similar to the new CLA though as that is the newest MB design language (this car was announced this year) but obviously a more luxurious use of materials and stuff but they need to redesign the dash to fit that new design given the R232 SL is a Roadster. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/9sf1z65VcdQ/maxresdefault.jpg

Thing about those videos is they are clickbait for views, they earn money from the views, it is AI generated and there are many different ones for other MB models and other brands as well.

I also want to mention, the actual design of that double screen first appeared in 2016 when they announced the W213 E-Class.

As for the centre console design, it was inspiried by the AMG GT coupe C190 that was announced in 2014. Look at the centre console: https://robbreport.com/wp-content/up...061.jpg?w=1000

The interior shown in the video is very nice looking, so it is obviously FAKE! MB no longer knows how to make gracious, lovely interiors. Even if one of their designers came up with this design, it would never get the green light from management. Everything they do these days has to be edgy, which to my way of thinking, stinks. Oh well.

Speaking of which, I haven't heard you talking about your SL for a while, too busy enjoying the 7 series to take the vehicle for a ride?

My SL has been hibernating during the rainy season. The car has NEVER been in the rain. I take it out whenever I can to keep the juices flowing. Over six years old now and still under 4,500 miles. My wife says I'm saving it for the next owner!

You really should enjoy it more, take it for a road trip or something.

I do love my roadster, but truth be told, I really wanted a hard top convertible, instead of the fabric one I got. Supposedly, there is a 56 pound savings in weight. I would have accepted that weight penalty. I am not really sure about the anatomy of the fabric top retraction compartment, but if a hardtop convertible took up even more trunk space, maybe I wouldn’t want that option.

This is my 8th SL, my first being a 1972 350SL. Having dealt with fabric tops on many cars over the years, when I got my first retractable hardtop model, I never looked back. It just makes so much sense and is the best of both worlds, coupe & convertible all wrapped up in one car!

Side effect of insurance is probably cheaper with the hard top since thieves can't just cut it open?

So they do it for the sake of doing it, with no gain whatsoever?

Good luck replacing it with another hardtop convertible.

Do you know what manufacturers still produce hardtops? Is it only ultra luxury brands?

I can’t speak for motivations, but vandalism is a crime of opportunity.
