I am asking for your expertise help to identify by the pictures what part of the front frame has broken down in my 82' 380 SL just arriving home tonight. Can anyone help by looking at the picture to identify what part has broken down to find it? Thanks so much for your help.

 

My '81 happens to be up on ramps right now. Looks like the rear of the lower A-arm(control arm) mount broke off the frame. Don't drive it! You may be able to carefully put it on a trailer or tow truck if needed. Best is to jack it up where it sits and have someone with a mobile welder fix it, or weld it yourself if you can.

 

so it looks like a similar situation,:I do have planned to have it lifted with a towing truck and delivered to my repair shop nearby, but I wasn’t sure if this was a broken standalone part or component Or like you are pointing, it is a welding job .

Great article and pictures. I can't find that the kit is still available anywhere. Do you have a source or is it a build-your-own thing now?

 

Check with your dealer. The gussets may be available again. If not I guess you could make your own. Find an '86-'89 subframe or a reinforced earlier model.
