I've been searching but cant find anything on how to test the fuel pressure regulator/dampener. Does anybody have any insight on this? How does one know if it needs to be replaced?

This might help.
Thanks for your contribution, however the fuel pressure regulator/dampener is different from the fuel accumulator.

Yes, Sorry, I realized that as soon as I posted then wasn’t sure how to delete my post.
This guy has a couple of good videos on checking the regulator etc.

The pressure regulator valve controls the main system pressure, which should be 5 to 5.6 bar. If this is out of spec high or low the pressure regulating valve has a problem. The pressure can be adjusted slightly by changing some shims in the valve. What year and engine do you have?
