Talking Proud new owner of an 05' SL65

I just picked up my SL65 (Brilliant Sliver/Ash) from the dealer a few days ago (Had 57 miles on it when I drove it home, Now has 500 miles on it). I've been loosing sleep over it for the past 2 weeks. But its finally here, the car is simply amazing to say the least. It makes my heart melt, truly amazing piece of engineering. I probably wont drive any other car for weeks, before I go unto a tangent here are the pics.

Gorgeous car ! Congratulations !

I see you've got the SLR on your "wishlist", so is this just a stop along the way ? Also, if I may be so rude as to ask, was it priced right ?

The SLR is a wishfull thinking car, but I just dont think that I could bring myslef to spend that much money on a car, but wow it is a piece of art. This has been my dreamcar since I heard of it last year and finnaly found one at the right price -not at first-. When my wifes Cl was in for service about 3 weeks ago, the dealer had gotten a Sl65 and the owner backout of it a week later at the last moment. The salesman orginally stated that the dealership wouldnt let it go for less than 240, I was like !@#!@. I told him I wanted 1 SL65 not 2 , I could find a F430 Spider for this kind of money. The salesman refused to let me see the sticker of the car, I thought this was very strange. I finnaly asked for the manager and he said that the sticker was "lost" and they had no clue where it was. That was the last string, I called the owner of the dealership who is a member at my country club. He personaly came down to the dealership and took care of it, the salesman was paid on commision and was asking 40K over and about the sticker. With some talks and about 3 days of communication I was able to talk him down 195 with all the opitions and considering the avabitliy of the car i figured it was a great deal. Believe me I couldnt let the 65 just sit there begging to be opened up and having to deal with the pain of not being able to properly breathe.

Lmao, my wife had to pull me away by the ear when she heard what they wanted for it . Ill see how this works out and if and when a SLR is at a resoanlble price I let her go, but for now FULL SPEED AHEAD :p !

Nice

I just bought a black/clack SL65 in Los Angeles(Keyes), and paid $180K, no distronic, everything else. These cars are available for sticker or less new. Check around before you buy, and do not pay any big premiums some dealers are asking for.

Awesome

Truly an awesome car! Congratulations! I have the same wheel setup on my SL55. How do you find the ride and I'm curious what tire pressures you have listed on your door sticker as the recommended pressures.

I find myself this tuesday morning, enjoying a cup of coffee, admiring the fine lines of an amazing machine,...that's the problem, I'm at MY DESK, and YOU are probably STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO iT with your coffee! ooohh the agony! Nice photo's by the way. I have always appreciated the way this mark has built outstanding machines that although complex, remarkably simple. not simple like laking, but simple like, spare me the details, just build the perfect car. Every single piece of the car, belongs to the next piece, nothing stands out of place or tries to fit in, yet you can see the entire legacy of the SL in the current body.

dear lord that is a beautiful car....personally an SL500 sport will do it for me (and hopefully will when the 996 goes back july 1st) but this car is breathtaking....an odd question though, I usually see the same color steering wheel as the interior but your steering wheel is black with the ash interior is that normal on the '65?

This one had all the options including Distronics, 3 Year Navi, Ill Door Sills, Carcover, Luggage Set, Rear Shelf Bag.. etc I the sticker was 196,456.50 Out the door with taxes and all the rest of the regular stuff it sould have been around 204K.. so I did get a little of sticker and I feel happy with what I payed with it. I also dont want to fly across the US to pick up a car or deal with shipping it. I'd rather have purchased it locally from a dealer that I know and trust. I have seen them on ebay with about 6-10K miles going for 175,000-190,000 some new 200,000. Just my opinion.

I was thinking about this the other day... I gusse it is normal. Does any one know the anwser to this question. Is it normal? I am presuming yes, but not 100% sure.

Just by looking at the picture, it looks like your car doesn't have distronic, or parktronic so if you thought it had this stuff you might want to check again.

No Keyless Go either.

But a "base" SL65 is still an SL65.

if that's your car congratulations. but these pics look surprisingly familiar:

http://www.automanias.nl/Uw%20auto/M...SL65%20AMG.htm

if its yours please post pictures of this sl65 with your other cars as well. recently there's been a bunch of posers on the boards and these pics seem suspicious, unless they stole your pics. plus your post count is low. sorry to doubt but you know how it is with these fakers coming on the boards recently...
