New tires yet?
i have 24k on the s55 and was wondering about replacing the tires to improve the ride quality. anyone replace their tires yet? what was your mileage and what tire did you replace with. thanks

My tires were on the way out at 10K miles. At that time I switched to 19" AMG SL65 wheels and Michelin PS2's

ingenereAmg- i know how you drive and why they were out at 10k. my sl55 tires are fine at 9k. but the s55 is riding rough and i wanted to know if new tires would improve the ride notably. saw oliver yesterday for the s55 ecu and noticed a great inprovement. also, oliver has another upgrade from when you and i had our ecu's done. did you have to have your tank changed in the 55 for the pump noise? thanks

I'm on my 3rd set of tires at 18k miles. The Michilin PS definately get harder and much noisier as they age. I'm still waiting for Bridgestone to come out with the S03 Pole Position in the SL 18" staggered sizes. I've had nothing but good luck with noise, grip, comfort and ride quality with them on previous performance cars.
I'm not a big fan of the Michilin PS but, choices are limited in our sizes.

Oliver has told me to send my ECU back to get the additional software upgrade.......but I haven't yet. A friend of mine is telling me that the 2nd upgrade makes the engine good for 585hp!! Is that what he told you as well?

Just changed Tires
replaced stock tires with Pilot sports at 17k . Ride seems a little rougher but they're still new. In regard to the gas tank, Mine was replaced last year. Noise problem is caused by the auxillary fuel pump. Covered by warranty.

i don't ask oliver for hp changes. i just noticed a seat of the pants change in response and shifting that was very noticable. he will be at my house next week on his way home one nite to do the sl55. i just got the s55 done with a real notice of change. i can barely notice the pump noise in the sl55, maybe because the tank is almost always full,but my friend is incharge of service at a local dealer and i thought i should make the change incase it gets louder later before the issue is ignored by mbusa because of time passing.
