SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: More SL65 dragstrip results

More SL65 dragstrip results
Just a quick update - I had the Benz up at Sacramento Raceway last night. The weather was hot (85F @ 6PM) but the Merc ate it up, running 11.4s @ 126-127. Interesing highlights:
1) I've finally got burnouts figured out - PUT THE CAR IN DYNO MODE. Just turning off ESP does not work the way it did on my '03. Dyno mode, then a moderate press on the brake and some gas, and voila! Beautiful white smoke on both sides of the car.
2) As a result of (1) I was able to brake boost for 0.5 secs before launch. This produced a 1.66 60
3) 1/4s never dipped into the 11.3s (although I ran an 11.40) - by the time the temps dropped, the track officials had kicked me off for running too fast
I have a few amusing videos which I'll post as soon as I can scrounge up some bandwidth... ahh, here we are:

Sounds like fun! It would appear that the new software loads have a 3500 RPM limit while the brake is pressed...... Dyno mode is the only way to go.
1.66 60ft times are incredible!
Glad to see you are still having fun at the track!

Amazing , have they threatened to permanently ban you from the track yet?
Off topic but, has anyone took a RennTech SL600 to the track? Does anyone think it could run in the mid 11s?

Also one quick question about the ride along in the SL65, were you driving it to its fullest capabilities w/o the RennTech ECU. When I compare it to the SL600 6-110 video it just seems quicker.

I'm not into drags but the rate accelleration is quite impressive on that vid.
When I'm on the track and I'm left foot braking and then trail braking through a corner...if the revs are up and you try to feed in the gas.............it's dead until you get totally off the brake. I heard a mention of a dyno mode that would defeat that.............how do I do that on an '03 SL55? Thanks.......
