Before you spend a few grand, I'd cut off my resonators first, in fact before dropping four digit numbers for an exhaust, I did replace my resonators on a lot of our cars with a straight pipe.

The sound difference is amazing, but remember this, you have a turboed car, and the turbos muffle the engine exhaust quite a lot.

It's not as muffled as it seems from the inside. I was driving another car as my wife trailed me. She came screaming by me like a jet and the sound was loud and intimidating. She didn't hear what I heard, but it was fun hearing what others hear as you fly past them. I was very much in awe!

How about muffler delete?

I'm gonna try that sometime, but I'm not leaving them off of course.

Sorry for non topic, but it is in the theme of sl65 so i didnt think to create a new topic on this question. I wonder why the mercedes s65amg and sl65amg both have the same engine, but the one is a tank and the other is a rocket, but they both have the same acceleration? Why is that? I dont get it Mercedes says 4.2 for both of them. I mean whats the point then?

Because the SL weights alot more than you think, and you cant always go by what the manufacture says for 0-60 times etc...

Wow wait a sec here guyz.... First i was not telling it goes 2.5 i was just emphacizing my point that the owner will almost alwayss say higher numbers.. Second of all Mercedes do not underate their numbers at all, more than that they write even lower numbers that almost always non of the review professionals can achieve.. Meaning they say for example we did 8.5 instead of 7.5 what Benz says. So the thing here is why would mercedes do such a thing if they almost weight the same, it doenst make sense at all than I mean why would you pay 50k more for the same perfomance, and only two seats instead of getting a plane like an S65. I don't get that, still nobody could answer the question..... Why s65 and sl65 are the same perfomance?

Also if it weights the almost the same as the plane(s65) it is not much of a sport car as Mercedes wants it to be......

You didnt answer my question.... Why would they, are their marketing manager stupid or something. So you saying they write the same acceleration for 185k(2 seater) and 170k(plane) that wouldn't be smart from their part....

One is a convertible one is a sedan. They have the same engine and weigh about the same. I already have a sedan and wanted a nice convertible. What is hard to understand about that? If someone wants an mix of both they get the CL65.

So basically they are the same accelration ..... Well i thought that s65 was much sportier, and faster or at least suppose to be faster. I mean it doesnt make sense to get in to 2 seater for exact the same perfomance as the large and big sedan.

When the large sedan can rip through the quarter in 12 seconds not many two seaters can stay with it. I don't get your point. AMG wanted to give the choice to have the 65 engine in three different cars and all are fairly similar in acceleration. Now if you throw some turns in the equation, I would hope the SL would start to walk away from the S. If you want one car that beats them all, buy the SLR.
