Cool Sl65 T-boned By A Corolla

Me and my wife were leaving my office, and waiting for a red light to change at an intersection. I was in the right lane and a SUV was in the left lane. As the green arrow changed I slowly moved forward, and as I entered the intersection, I observe this vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed coming directly at me. I turned to the right and hit the gas, but before I could clear the intersection this car without hitting the brakes slammed into the rear passenger side deploying my drivers side air bag. I estimated his speeda at about 65 MPH. His front completely collapsed, and my rear axle, both rear rims, and the frame was bent.

My wife and I are going to our doctor first thing in the morning as we are both feeling the brunt of the impact. Forty six hundred miles into the most exciting car in my life up to this point, and T-boned by an ******* who tried to say that I ran a red light. The witnesses stood by and gave statements to the cops verifying that this guy ran the red light.

Although I am happy that no one is fatally injured, I am thoroughly devastated at the luck with my former SL55, and now my SL65. If legally possible, I plan to sue for a loss of value, and purchase a brand new SL65 with the funds obtained to compensate me.

Cool

My top was down and I couldn't get it to close. MB called and dispatched the cops right away. They were very helpful. Although we consistantly talk about how fast our cars are, we are blessed to have cars that save our lives. I dont think that I would have been doing as we'll if I had a Corvette, or Viper. The 65 took major impact in the side and stood up better than I would have ever imagined.

Glad you guys are ok. Thats one thing we don't talk about much but these cars are a hell of alot safer than a vette/viper/porsche. I can live with the extra weight if it comes with extra safety! I am sure you will be in a new one in no time. Try not to accept the old one even if repaired. I would have a lawyer negotiate this asap.

Cool

My wife and I spoke with 2 attorneys today about receiving the cost of the diminished value, and both were slow to respond until we told them the price of the car. Both stated that it would be the right move to demand that they cover the diminished value for a car of that price, and one stated that we might as we'll prepare to trade it in for another one, becuase insurance companies will test you to see if you are truly ready to make a move and trade the car. No problemo for us.

Besides getting about 25 X-rays today, that was the best news I got. I didn't get a chance to take any pics today, but I did find out that the top which was down at the time was damaged on the drivers side. So once the car is fixed we wil get it appraised and go after the diminished value which should be added towards a trade-in.

Oh We'll. On my way to the heat game. I have 5 season tickets, so if any of you guys are around and my tickets are available, you can more than have them.

Corolla, Camary, Toyota drivers are the worst drivers in the ENTIRE WORLD! Reason being is because Corolla drivers buy Corollas because they have to drive, not because they enjoy driving.

Sorry about your bad luck with the SL, but atleast you're still here to write about your experience.

Glad that you are OK. Any after body aches or stiffness? It's good to hear that the car protected you and your wife. Look in your PM mail box.

i almost got t-boned last night by a dumb girl in old suzuki samarai running a red light.. now that would have pissed me off.. if i'm gonna get t-boned, atleast let it be by a decent looking car.. i've always wondered why females have lower insurance rates than guys.. they can't frickin drive.. <g>

Probably because they bump into a lot of things but don't do as much damage as guys do on average. Most guys crash being billy bad *** flying around town and wrap it around a telephone pole....the cost to the insurance company is a lot greater for them than for the girl who backed into a couple peoples cars.

Ahh man I am very sorry to hear about this! Thank God you weren't injured! But DO go after that *******'s insurance and demand every penny in compensation so you can get a new SL 65. There have been a number of posts throughout various chatrooms regarding "loss of value" when invovled in a accident that isn't one's fault. It IS possible...you just have to do your homework and make sure you get a lawyer that can make a judge understand that your car has just depreciated 40-50% of its value.
I do remember many posts regarding this topic on M5board.com Do a search there and PLEASE keep us up to date, as it will help set a pecedence for others needing to follow suit
